In that scenario at #19 I'd take Ingram if it was a pass rusher I was after or trade back some and consider Jeffery if I wanted a receiver.
I'm getting to that age where a lifetime warranty just doesn't mean as much to me anymore as an afternoon nap.

With pick #19 in the 2012 NFL Draft...The Chicago Bears select Cordy Glenn, offensive tackle, Georgia. (cuts to commercial and the Bears pick is hardly talked about like usual, LOL)

I know that some predict he's guard only...but I kept a close eye on this kid during the Senior Bowl practices and during the game and from what I could tell...granted I'm no NFL scout, is that this kid CAN in fact play LEFT TACKLE in the NFL. Even if he is "guard only," IF he's there at #19 and I'm Phil Emery, I would definately lose sleep at night if I didn't take this kid. He's a BEAST!!

    Red face

    1[19] OT/OG Cordy Glenn [Georgia] 6'6" 345lbs.

Cordy Glenn who can play RT and could be a dominant LG. The man is 6'6" 345lbs and moves really well for his size.

He is a Shawn Andres type player that can do a couple of things for us,

    LT: Webb
LG: Glenn, a dominant LG is much better than the average Chris Williams
    C: Garza
    RG: Spencer/Louis
    RT: Carimi

    And if Webb sucks,

LT: Carimi, I know Tice does not want to do this but he might have to.
    LG: Louis
    C: Garza
    RG: Spencer
    RT: Glenn

Well here's a scouting report on Cordy Glenn. I see things in this scouting report that tell me he might play RT but an awful lot that tells me he's not a great prospect for LT. One positive that he does have as an OG is an ability pull and get out in front of off tackle running plays. That's important in the Bears run game. If we're looking for a Carl Nicks sized OG he'd be a good fit.

The one I'll quarrel with you about Windy is that CWill was far better than just an average OG last year. Before he got hurt has was playing the best ball of his career and along with Carimi was the best Olineman on the team. He made some key blocks that Forte broke off some big gains behind. I think that line would have been much better at the end of the year had we not lost those two to injury.

    News & Updates

Jan 26 Ranking the Senior Bowl’s Top 10 prospects

And what NFL teams are good fits for each?

    2

A thick lineman who isn't a real natural bender sitting into his stance as an OT. Struggles to keep his base down, doubles over at the waist and pops upright initially off the ball in the run game. Struggles to create leverage for himself consistently at the point. However, is so strong, can work his legs through contact and create a push. Is pretty rangy when asked to pull and get out to the second level for his size and exhibits some natural body control and can breakdown on contact. But again, his pad level gets high and he simply just engulfs at the point, doesn't drive his legs or the defender through contact. Displays above-average body control when engaged and despite lacking ideal awareness and routinely getting off the ball late, he has the length and power to get his hands into defenders and seal/turn them from the play in the run game.

Displays good initial quickness in pass protection and is natrual when asked to shuffle and slide. Again, bends at the waist, but keeps his hands up protecting his chest and maximizing his length into contact. Demonstrates the lateral ability to slide his feet cleanly and keep the inside of the pocket clean. But, he does get upright and overextended with his footwork, relying on his length and natural power to anchor. Will struggle with balance through contact and doesn't have elite range in the pass game, but plays well in tight areas and when he gets his hands on you it is tough to disengage from.

Impression: Had had some struggles in space as a tackle prospect, but in tighter areas where he can get his hands on linemen quickly as a guard he showcases the ability to dominate. Looks like a starting caliber OG early in his NFL career.

Here's another possibility that BH-s came up with. Trade our 2 round pick to move up in the first for a LT. If we did that we could get up around the 10th pick and possibly have a shot at Reiff and Martin, Adams or DeCastro (OG) should still be there as well as Coples at DE. One way or the other we get a shot at some top ten talent.

Obviously the key to allow this to happen is filling some big holes in FA. A top WR would be a must and probably a pass rushing DE as well. Secondary needs would be a SS and CB. This still leaves us with 2 picks in the top half of round three and there should be some good picks still on the board to add youth and depth.

Ordinarily I wouldn't want to give up that much but if it meant the difference of getting a day one starter at LT or an all around DE like Coples, guys that rank as can't miss players, then I'd do it for the right guy. What do you guys think about that thought?

Apparently I know an an assistant offensive line coach for the Bears? I'll see if i can glean some information from him tonight, although I did hear that he's said that the Bears are looking at a WR (no telling on whether it's through the draft or FA)

Probably both. Get a #1 in FA then draft one or two to develop. At least that's what I hope Emery will do. Same goes for the "O" line if at all possible.
