All 3 Giants WR would start in our team.
Either Manningham, Cruz, or Nicks would be our number 1 receiver. The big game is another reminder of the help Jay lacks.

All the WR's in that played during that game would be starters on this team.

It would be difficult to find a starting player on either team...

Yet the interesting thing is none of them is a "big" WR. Nicks is only an inch taller than Bennett and Cruz is rough the the same height and weight. Manningham is Johnny Knox size. But they get open and the make the tough catch.
I don't know that Cruz or Manningham are all that much more talented than Bennett and Knox but we sure as hell lack a #1 guy like Hakeem Nicks. A guy that consistently gets open between the hash marks and makes the tough grab. In an offense that provided Cutler with better protection I know even Bennett would look better than he does and I don't think he's any less of a clutch guy than Cruz. He and Eli have the same kind of connection that Cutler and Bennett do.
Emery needs to go out and find us a Hakeem Nicks. A guy who can control the middle of the field between 10 and 20 yards downfield. That's the guy we lack. That and at least on good receiving TE. I'd love to see what Davis can do in an offense with Tice running it. Watching NE play just makes Martz's ideas of a great passing offense look all that much more outdated. Hernandez was almost impossible to cover and if Grokowski hadn't been hurt the Pats may have been able to pull this one out of the fire.
In today's NFL ignoring your TE's is just plain old fashioned and stupid.

Isn't this stating the obvious?
It's no secret our receivers suck. Other than Earl, there isn't a single guy in this group that I feel comfortable with long-term (Knox is a little too inefficient for my liking). Manningham (who played very well tonight) is a Free Agent, so that'd be a nice start.

One comment I'd like to make here is a repeat of what I commented on in the Knox thread. There isn't all that much difference between Knox and Manningham that I can see. Both fast, both about the same size and both capable of making some pretty acrobatic catches from time to time. But where there's a difference is that NY doesn't use him to run slants or work the middle to the field. That's what they have Nicks and Cruz for.
We have a Victor Cruz type in Earl Bennett but we have no Hakeem Nicks except that f'n poser RWill. What Phil Emery needs to do is find Cutler as Hakeem Nicks type guy who can control the middle to the field from 10 to 20 yards out and make the tough catch. Then Tice, or whoever they hire to run the passing game, can stop using Knox to run routes that he doesn't run well and start using him at his strength which is as a downfield receiver.
Knox averaged almost 20 ypc because he can get open and catch downfield but when they ask him to run short slants he falls on his ass and we lose our QB. Or he fumbles and gets almost broken in two by a 275lb DE. He needs to be playing where the big boys aren't. Hopefully he'll recover 100%, come back strong, and finally be used more efficiently because all things considered I really don't think there's all that much difference between him and Manningham other than how each one is used. JMO.

It is going to take a couple of years to recover from the angelo stench he has left on the bears franchise.

Both cruz and manningham are listed at 6'0" and nicks is listed at 6'1". by contrast, Bennett is 6'0" Hester is 5'11" and Knox is 6'0".
What I noticed is that the NYG's WR's play bigger then they are, I would have sworn MM was at least 6'3, same as Nicks, they both look and play big. Knox plays small, same as Hester(who is small). Bennett is the only one that plays to his size or bigger on our team; and that is the difference between the groups. It's a HUGE difference.

Ok, I've been more then harsh on JA, but let's remember he rose this team up, and then merely brought it back down to a .500 level which is still slightly above what it was in the years prior to him. He had to go, but lets give him some credit for building up a team that was competitive for a few years.

I would sell my firstborn for Hakeem Nicks to play for the Bears. Cutler is a better QB than Manning, but is playing worse WR's than Rex Grossman had the luxury of playing with (Yes, that includes David Terrell. Terell > Rwilliams & Sam Hurd)
