We'll almost certainly be looking at the kind of money Rice got last year but I'm not sure Bowe would be a whole lot cheaper if he even hits FA. If he does he's probably a better choice that Jackson if for no other reason the fact that he's a bit younger. All we can do now is wait this out until early March and then we may have a better handle on all of the FA out there. Right now it's tough since we don't know who'll re-sign with their current team just like some of our guys.

I like VJ but I saw him this year give up on plays and he is one strike away from a year long suspension.

I'd prefer Bowe as well but I wouldn't think KC would trade him, at least not for two 2nd rounders that may be pretty low picks if we can get competitive again. Miami got Marshall cheap because McDumb wanted rid of him. I think that's another deal he screwed the pooch on by playing Belicheck when he had no idea what he was doing.
Guess we'll have to wait all of this out to see who gets tagged and who doesn't but I'd say it's probably better than 50-50 he does since they tendered him at the highest level they could last year when he was a RFA.

In order, Bowe, Colston, Jax, Stevie J, then all the others. On top of that a 1st 3 round draft at WR too. This current crew, minus Bennett, are all boarderline starters and need replaced.

1. We have to sign a WR, because there is no guarantee that a rookie comes in and has a huge impact on the offense and is a bigger risk than a proven Pro Bowl WR.

2. The Bears are wasting Jay Cutler's career and we cannot afford to waste a couple more years waiting for Michael Floyd and Alshon Jeffery to develop into a #1 WR.

3. I would pay Vincent Jackson or Dwayne Bowe upwards of Brandon Marshall's money 5 years 50 million.

Because Jerry Angelo could not/would not address the WR position in free agency or the draft our offense is YEARS behind the rest of the good teams in the NFL. The Bears are in the begging situation right now when it comes to the WR position and we need to act desperatly or we will never win.

If he wasn't that expensive I'd say Vjax is the target. Not now though. Don't believe Colston would flourish like he does in N.O. plus injury issues. Bowe looks to be the guy. Bowe and Manningham for FA's perhaps plus a drafted wr (Jeffery).

Can't replace them all with just one FA and one draft pick Ric. You know Hester will be around and unless we pick up another KOR to back Hester or the injury keeps him sidelined so will Knox but he ends up a #3 guy behind the FA and Bennett. Knox never was #1 material and never will be but as a #3 deep threat he's fine.

Hurd is obviously gone and probably will appear in the next remake of The Longest Yard, RWill needs to be gone although I doubt they do it until they replace him, and Sanz is on the bubble. He gets open and scores but he's gotta get over those dropsies of he's gone too. The draft pick could easily push him out and the FA pushes RWill out. I think the other three will be around though.

Bowe yeah if they let him go to FA (which is probably not gonna happen), Manningham...meh. We've got MM already and the only two he could possibly replace are Sanz and Knox. Knox is a better deep threat and Sanz is a cheap development project. It's possible they look at him as insurance against Knox being unable to return but if he can I don't see them replacing him. Not with his KOR ability combined with his WR ability.

I agree you cannot replace them all w/2 picks, but you can drastically upgarde by having #1 FA material, #2 Bennett, #3, early round WR drafted. Then having Knox/Hester as backups to the #2 and 3 spot along w/Sanz.
Colston or Jax or Bowe
Floyd or Jefferies
Bennett

is a much better lineup then

Colston or Jax or Bowe
Bennett
Knox/Hester

Not to mention you don't know what is going to be up w/Knox anyways. Expecting him to be fine is what got the Colts the 1st pick in the draft, and I'm sure that is not how they wanted their season to go...even if it does turn out well.

just to inject some reality no top wr is coming here at a discount. We arent the patriots offense. This is where wrs come to die. Until we change the culture we are beggars not choosers.
