Is that after renegotiating with CG, DJ Moore, Kellen Davis, Forte etc?
Alright, just wondering, thanks.
Beat me to it. I agree. we should pounce on whoever doesnt get the tag there..
carr gets it? pounce on bowe and go for Cortland Finnegan also.
bowe gets it? pounce on carr and look at vjax i say.
CB and WR will be locked down (with a sprinkle of draftees also - two third rounders, WR class is deep)
picks in round one and two are an edge rusher and O-line...
all of a sudden im feeling confident about next year...

Royal's injuries have never been major but his production suffered after Cutler left town perked back up under Orton and went into the crapper again under Tebow. Don't know what you mean by being "in a similar boat with Bennett"???? Royal is the same weight as Knox but 2" shorter if you were talking about size but where they are similar is that both are clutch 3rd down receivers.
The other advantage we have with Royal, other Cutler's familiarity with him, is the fact that he's an excellent return man. If by chance Knox isn't ready by the start of the season (And don't put much stock in that tweet. May not in this case means just as much as may be ready. They just chose to emphasize the negative. It's very ambigous) then Royal would be a far better choice than "Super" Mario Manningham who isn't a return specialist.
Here's Royals stats and pay particular attention to his rookie year in 2008 when he played with Cutler. If we're really looking for somebody to challenge Knox as a #3 WR this is the guy, not Mario Manningham. I'd forgotten that Royal was UFA this year.

ROYAL AT A GLANCE:
• A fourth-year wide receiver who is one of two players in the NFL (New Orleans RB Darren Sproles) to post at least 2,000 yards from scrimmage and 2,000 return yards since 2008.
• Registered 1,093 combined yards in 2010 en route to becoming the fifth Bronco in team history to post at least 1,000 combined yards in each of his first three NFL seasons.
• Totaled a Broncos record for receptions through a player’s first two years with 128 and tied for the third-fastest in NFL history that a player reached 100 receptions (20 games).
• Became just the second Bronco and 11th player in NFL history to return a punt (71 yds.) and a kickoff (93 yds.) for touchdowns in the same game at San Diego (10/19/09).
• Earned All-Rookie honors from Pro Football Weekly/PFWA and The Sporting News after totaling the second-most receptions (91-980 yds., 5 TDs) by a rookie in NFL history with Denver in 2008.
• Set Broncos rookie records in 2008 for receptions (91), receiving yards (980) and receiving touchdowns (5) while ranking sixth in the NFL with 1,829 combined yards that marked the third-highest total by a rookie in club annals.
• Posted five plays of at least 50 yards for Denver in 2008 and became the first player since the 1970 NFL merger to record his team’s longest run (71 yds.), reception (93 yds.), kickoff return (95 yds.) and punt return (36 yds.) in the same year.
• Became Virginia Tech University’s all-time leader in career all-purpose yards with 4,686—a total that included an Atlantic Coast Conference-record 1,296 punt return yards (11.7 avg.) along with 1,386 kickoff return yards (23.5 avg.).
• Selected by the Broncos in the second round (42nd overall) of the 2008 NFL Draft.

Draft a Badger. They're mean little critters. Honey Badger Don't Care. Honey Badger Don't Give a Shit.

I didn't realize Royal was an FA this year either, and I think he would be a very nice fit given Cutlers past with him and bringing Bates in. Man, go with what works, and they have proven to work well together. Obviously, I do not expect him to be the primary WR we go out and get, but he would be a very nice FA supplement to this team.
Also, I would like to share my opinion of Sanz as well as our other rookies from last year. Let's not forget that last year's off season was completely lost, and that is a time (OTA's) when rookies get their first look at the systems they will be asked to operate in. In the case of Sanzenbacher, especially, he was an UDFA, so he didn't even have the luxury of getting some "secret" help from Vets that the drafted rookies had. Given what we saw from him (Sanz), and guys like Conte, Paea, JT Thomas, Carimi and even Enderle, I will personally be looking for some surprising improvement from these guys with a full off season. Yea, part of the problem with Sanz was drops, but when your head is swimming it's hard to refine that focus necessary to make the catch. One of the things that made him so great at Ohio State as his sure hands. I think it's reasonable to suggest that we could see some dramatic improvement in our young guys from last year. Frankly, I thought it was kind of unfair how many expected and wanted Enderle to get playing time when Hanie didn't play well, and the talking heads all speculated that he must be a bust. Good God, how is that kid expected to come in and play effectively when he had NO off season and limited reps in TC, and probably NO reps during the season. To me, that was just unreasonable to assume a kid can come in under those circumstances and play the QB position in a Martz offense.
So, I still look at last years draftee's as 1/2 rookies and we may have some pleasant surprises awaiting us from the 2011 draft class.
The Greatest form of revenge is MASSIVE success.
Papa Bear say BEAR DOWN!
Speaking of FA, Robert Meecham is also an FA. According to the linked article it's a possibility b/c Colston/Stevie J and Bowe are all going to probably get FA'd or new deals. He doesn't have the big flashy #'s, but it's hard to have big flashy #'s in NO who spread the wealth; and used him to open up Graham. He'd also not have the huge price tag of some of these other guys.
Thoughts?

...WHY MEACHEM MIGHT MAKE SENSE
Dynamic playmakers such as Philadelphia’s DeSean Jackson, Buffalo’s Steve Johnson and Kansas City’s Dwayne Bowe likely won’t see the free agent market because of franchise tags or the sides working out new agreements. And it’s highly unlikely Vincent Jackson or Colston will either.
New Orleans is trying to work out an extension for quarterback Drew Brees, and once that’s done, it’s likely the Saints will turn their attention to Colston. So they’ll ultimately wind up having to part ways with Meachem. But don’t let Meachem’s production in 2011 (40 catches, 620 yards and 6 TDs) fool you. His lack of mega numbers stems in part from New Orleans’ spread-the-wealth system, and the fact he often became the clear-out man to open up things underneath for tight end Jimmy Graham.
Meachem’s explosive deep speed is part of the reason he became somewhat of a decoy. But he possesses the physical attributes to thrive in the right situation...
As for another piece in FA, Forte, looks like the Bears are already working that out. A few peices of info that some of you might not have known....Forte is a beast.
THE CURRENT ROSTER
•Matt Forte: Despite contentious negotiations with the team prior to the season opener, Forte decided to prove his worth on the field by out-producing players such as Minnesota’s Adrian Peterson and Oakland’s Darren McFadden -- both earning more than 10 times Forte’s 2011 base salary -- in total yards from scrimmage (1,487) despite missing more than a month of action.
Forte finished the season ranked 10th in the NFL -- at all positions -- in total yards from scrimmage, and led the league in that statistical category prior to suffering a sprained knee on Dec. 4 against the Kansas City Chiefs.
Given the team’s expected shift to more of a run-oriented offense, Forte’s value remains high. Emery has already touched base with Forte’s agent, Adisa Bakari, and it appears the team will finally make a legitimate effort at striking an agreement with the Pro Bowl running back.
