Hell, if we just got Royal in FA and he had the chemistry with the Bears he had with him in Denver it would be a significant upgrade. I'd bet we'd get both Meachem and Royal for less than it would take to get VJax.
I think we need to get Forte signed to a cap friendly deal so that we don't have to burn up nearly $8 mil on him alone. If we can get help at DE, CB, or SS in FA then we have 4 picks in the top 100 to draft for other needs of depth. There are several areas where we need some improvement but the entire position doesn't need a complete overhaul and WR is one of them.
Neither Tice or Cutler have anything bad to say about the Oline so I think we can take Tice at his word about standing pat early on in the draft. Safety should be able to be filled in FA and the cost isn't anywhere near what it is for other positions. So if we can upgrade at least two spots in FA that leaves us better off come draft day and we can focus more on BPA picks than to have to reach for a particular position.
