    Bears GM Mock Draft Offseason

This off-season plan is based on the cap space of $20 million that was reported by Sean Jensen in the Chicago Sun Times, the Bears can carry over $8 million in cap space into 2012 and will have around $28 million in total cap space to franchise or re-sign Forte.

Will Bears Have Enough Salary Cap Room To Keep Matt Forte? » Bears Gab
    Despite 2011 collapse, Bears don

    Cuts/Restructuring [4 million saved]
    OT Frank Omiyale [1.6 million]
    RB Marion Barber [1.9 million]
    DE Chauncey Davis [500K]

    Re-Signing [10 million spent]

    RB Matt Forte [4 years 32 million/18 guaranteed] [6/8/8/10]

A must resign and the most dynamic playmaker that the Bears have.

    DE Israel Idonije [2 years 5 million/2 guaranteed] [2/3]

Idonije might not be the pass rusher that the Bears need across from Peppers he is a great run stuffer and a perfect rotational player.
    S Craig Steltz [2 years 2.5 million/1 guaranteed] [1/1.5]

Steltz has been a consistent contributor and can hold up as a sport starter and a leader on special teams.

    RB Khalil Bell [2 years 3 million/1 guaranteed] [1/2]

Bell in my opinion has earned the right to be the primary back up, he runs hard and catches the ball well out of the backfield.

    Free Agents [17 million spent]

CB Brandon Carr [Chiefs] 5 years 40 million/18 guaranteed [8/9/9/7/7]

The Bears may want a big name WR, but they may be better served investing the money into a couple of players. Carr brings the size [6’ 207lbs] and physical ability that the Bears need at a starting CB, after Tim Jennings was exposed late in 2011. Carr has made plays in the passing game [4 Ints] and has shown that he can play zone and man. Phil Emery is also coming from KC so he will have more knowledge about his development and play.

WR Robert Meachem [Saints] 5 years 25 million/12 guaranteed [5/5/6/5/4]

The Bears will look at the top level free agent WRs, but they will be over paid and players like Vincent Jackson is 29. Meachem is a high potential player that has not really had the opportunity to show his true potential in the New Orleans spread the wealth system. Meachem has the size [6’2” 210lbs] and the deep speed to get behind the defense and threaten from the #2 WR position. Saints fans and media also talk about how hard Meachem works and his commitment as a run blocker.

Robert Meachem, WR for the New Orleans Saints at NFL.com
WR Eddie Royal [Broncos] 4 years 12 million/6 guaranteed [2/2/3/5]

The Bears are terrible at WR and they need to not only add talent, but bodies to the position that only has Bennett and Hester guaranteed to be around in 2012. Royal has dealt with injuries and a severe dip in production since Tebow took over in Denver, but when he was with Cutler he has very good years. Royal has the speed and route running to provide the Bears with a solid #2 option. Added to his ability to fill the #2 role Royal has a good report with Cutler. The Bears would be providing Cutler with a Pro Bowl deep threat in Jackson and 2 players that he is very comfortable with in Bennett and Royal.

QB David Garrard [Jaguars] 3 years 6 million/2 guaranteed [2/2/2]

The Bears were destroyed by their lack of a solid backup QB the last 2 seasons and they remedy that with Garrard. Garrard was holding out for a big money starting gig, but I do not see anyone giving that to him and in Chicago he can re-join Mike Tice and play for a team that really has a chance of winning. It would also provide him with a break for a body that has been beaten up in his career.

    Draft [5 million remaining]

1[1] Indianapolis Colts: QB Andrew Luck [Stanford]
1[2] Cleveland Browns [STL]: QB Robert Griffin III [Baylor]
1[3] Minnesota Vikings: OT Matt Kalil [USC]
1[4] St. Louis Rams [Cle]: WR Justin Blackmon [Oklahoma St]
1[5] Tampa Bay Buccaneers: CB Morris Claiborne [LSU]
1[6] Arizona Cardinals [Was]: OT Riley Rieff [Iowa]
1[7] Jacksonville Jaguars: WR Kendall Wright [Baylor]
1[8] Carolina Panthers: DT Michael Brockers [LSU]
1[9] Miami Dolphins: DE Quentin Coples [UNC]
1[10] Buffalo Bills: DE Melvin Ingram [South Carolina]
1[11] Kansas City Chiefs: OG David DeCastro [Stanford]
1[12] Cincinnati Bengals [Sea]: RB Trent Richardson [Alabama]
1[13] Washington Redskins [Ari]: WR Michael Floyd [Notre Dame]
1[14] Dallas Cowboys: CB Dre Kirkpatrick [Alabama]
1[15] Philadelphia Eagles: LB Luke Keluchey [Boston College]
1[16] NY Jets: OLB Courtney Upshaw [Alabama]
1[17] Seattle Seahawks [Cin]: DT Devon Still [Penn St]
1[18] San Diego Chargers: OT Jonathan Martin [Stanford]

*Trade* The Chicago Bears trade 1[19] to the Pittsburgh Steelers for 1[24] and 3[87].

    1[24] WR Rueben Randle [LSU] 6’4” 208lbs.

The Bears should be targeting WR in the 1st round after adding quality starting depth in Meachem and Royal. Randle has been under the radar to this point, but his 6’4” 208lbs frame and his sub 4.5 speed project him to be a #1 WR in the NFL. Randle at this point is raw and projects similarily to Jonathan Baldwin, who Phil Emery traded down for and drafted last season, but without the head cases. While there are some rough edges the Bears get the WR in the draft who may have the highest upside.
With the extra 3rd round pick the Bears can be extra aggressive in the draft moving to get the players that they want and have targeted.

    2[50] DE Chandler Jones [Syracuse] 6’5” 265lbs.

The Bears pass rush failed last season and they need to get faster and more athletic off the edge. Jones is a physical freak that has the length and speed that the Bears like in their Des. Jones had strong production despite missing the first half of the college season. Jones can step in and form a great rotation with Idonije while he gets use to the NFL game.

*Trade* The Chicago Bears trade 3[74] and 4[111] and 5[2013] to the Houston Texans for 2[57].

    2[57] OT Bobbie Massie [Mississippi] 6’6” 325lbs.

The Bears issues at LT have been clear and well discussed and while there might not be an immediate solution to the problem increased talent and competition at the OT position can help. Massie has the size and physical nature that Tice wants in his OLmen. Massie can compete with Webb, or he can work at RT and allow Carimi to shift over and compete with Webb. One of the biggest issues I have with Webb is that he seems way to secure in his job. By adding Massie there is a threat of him being replaced. Massie also has the strength and run blocking ability to project at OG down the road if Webb improves his play.

3[80] TE Ladarius Green [Louisiana Lafayette] 6’6” 245lbs.

I expect that the Bears will allow Kellen Davis to leave in free agency if he is offered a contract worth more than 5-6 million over 3 years. The Bears need to get more athletic and dynamic in the passing game from the TE position. Green is raw, but he has the size and athletic ability to project as one of the new age NFL TEs. Green has the hands and speed to be a threat deep down the field, which should open up the underneath routes and hold safeties for Meachem and Randle to get deep.

    3[87] LB Keenan Robinson [Texas] 6’2” 240lbs.

With Urlacher’s age and Brigg’s age and constant contract problems the Bears need to start planning for the future. Robinson has the speed and coverage ability to fit into the Bears Cover 2 defense and could compete with Roach on the strongside immediately. Robinson is also from Texas, which should make Lovie Smith very happy.

    5. CB Robert Blanton [Notre Dame] 6’1” 195lbs.

The Bears have addressed the starting CB position in free agency, but they continue to add depth with the drafting of Blanton. Blanton has the size to be a starting CB in the NFL and in the Cover 2 defense. Blanton gets a year to develop before he will be expected to compete to start.

    6. S Damien Jackson [Mississippi] 6’2” 210lbs.

The Bears continue to add youth, depth and speed to the secondary. The Bears appear to have their starting safeties in Major Wright and Chris Conte, but both have been injured and Wright has been inconsistent on the field. At a minimum Jackson adds to the special teams unit.

    7. LB Chris Marve [Vanderbilt] 6’ 242lbs.

I was shocked when Marve did not get a combine invite. Marve may be limited by his size and speed, but he is a smart leader and tackles everything that moves. Marve has every intangible to make up for his lack of size and reminds me of Gary Brackett.

Carr- like to have him but the money seems a bit too high.

Randle- that's a very good athlete right there, adjusts to the ball well and plays under control, hands look good didn't look fearful playing in traffic + has solid creativity with his RAC. I'm intrigued . Size is a +, and looks like the kind of guy who'd be solid in all areas.

The ND corner looked ok but wasn't impressed with his tackling.

The OT sounds like one of those guys who might be getting overlooked but haven't seen any tape on him.
What should you call any : Fumble , Hold , Interception , Three and out , or Sack ?

    A " F.H.I.T.S " ? or a J'Marcus ?
