I see the Cowboys taking Jenkins if they need a CB and if Jenkins was gone the Bengals might consider Kirkpatrick but I think they'd just as likely go for Decastro if he's available. If the Cowboys decide not to go CB then the Bengals are the only team I see taking CB before the Bears and like the 'boys I think they'd take Jenkins over Kirk.
Put it this way....Adams will almost definitely be there at our pick. He'd probably be there a few picks later too. Kirkpatrick is not definitely gonna be there but I think there's a good chance he is. I think the same can be said for a DE like Ingram. It's not a dream like expecting Claiborne or Blackmon to drop.

I'd agree on both counts. NFP has him ranked as one of the top 15 players overall in the draft. I think his potential in a defense like the Bears play is enormous. The fact that he doesn't have breath taking speed may knock him down a bit. I think I'd take Tice at his word that we won't take an Olineman in the first but if both Kirkpatrick and Ingram were there it may be a tough choice.
I still believe we need WR help badly enough that Emery won't risk filling in the draft alone. I'm assuming he'll get at least one WR in FA and another a little farther on down the line in the draft. DE's and CB's are tough to get in FA period and always expensive since both rank right behind QB as the most expensive positions to franchise and probably to sign as FA as well since the demand will always outstrip the supply.

But that begs the question of what to do with a guy like J.T. Thomas who was just arrested on a minor charge for possession? In every other way he appears to be one of the highest character human beings you could find. Last year he took a physically disabled girl to her prom and this year he takes a young boy and his mother to see the Super Bowl. We don't know much about his football skills because he spent the year on IR but as a high character guy off the field you could hardly ask for better.
He may not be a first round pick but he's on the team and no one has released him yet. If every NFL player, first rounders included, who smoked pot was released the NFL would begin to look like the World Football League and Josh McCown would be an All Pro passer. It's just not that big a deal anymore. Thousands of doctors even prescribe it for pain management where it's legal to do so.
Smoking a little pot has zero to do with your character any more than drinking a beer or a cocktail which, if overdone, can be far more dangerous than smoking some weed from time to time and not every employer would terminate an employee for smoking on his own time. On the job yes but that would be the same as drinking. One isn't worse than the other.
Unless Kirkpatrick (and this goes for Thomas too) has a history of usage and busts as long as your arm I wouldn't get too concerned. Unless they do it on game day right before the game it'll have no affect on their performance at all. With some guys it might even improve it if it helped their focus.

I don't know either but more than one piece has talked about his need to run 4.5 and below at the combine if he's gonna be a top ten pick. In the Bears defense he probably wouldn't need that because I'm relatively certain Peanut can't do that anymore if he ever could. Maybe I should have clarified that. No question he'll be a first round pick. It's only a matter of where. NFP has him ranked ahead of every other corner except Claiborne.

If you can discern the guys character then not picking a guy for smoking pot is like not picking Michael Phelps to be on your swim team. I find it strange that if you just try pot for example it your nearly witch-hunted but if you lie and say you have a problem and go to rehab like any PR agent would tell you it's forgiveness all around.
Arguing on the internet is like winning the special olympics, even if you win your still messed up.

Funny how it works that way sometimes isn't it? Hypocrisy is everywhere I just hope it's not a plague. LOL

totally agree! For some reason i still think we are going Pass rush with the first pick unless Emery pulls an ace out of his sleeve and surprises us all

The Scoutdraft top 50 board has him running a 4.49 forty. I wouldn't call that "sprinters speed" but it's plenty fast enough to play in a zone like we run. I didn't see anything in the way of a weakness watching him in the BCSC Game but then he wasn't required to do much covering against a non-existent passing game so judging his speed there was difficult.

If we draft him, I better see Avril or Mario in a Bears uni this season, otherwise, he's useless...

If Ingram is still on the board it would be hard to pass on him unless, as you say, we were able to sign a guy like MWill or Avril. I don't hold out much hope for Avril but Houston may not be in a position to keep Williams. That would be a very nice signing if it happened. As far as the draft goes you also have to wonder if a guy like Perry could play DE as a situational pass rusher. He's not the size you'd like but Avril isn't all that much bigger and Robert Mathis is roughly the same size and he's been a great pass rusher for the Colts.

Most every mock or scouting report I see has him going before we pick and I don't see us trading up for a CB. If Tice is true to his word and we cover WR in FA you have to think we'll draft a pass rusher with that first pick as long as there's a player worth it.
