    Free Agent WR News/Rumors

Source: Bills, Johnson 'far apart' in contract talks

Stevie Johnson looks like he may be heading for free agency.

Johnson could be the best WR on the market and we need to be prepared to out bid the Bills and other teams.

Would you be prepared to pay him 5 years 40 million/20 guaranteed?

    Exclamation Mike Wallace In Chicago?

The rumors are definitely circulating and I've heard quite a few of them. Some people say the Pittsburgh Steelers can't afford to keep WR Mike Wallace. Wallace is one of the best big-play wide receivers in the league, and because of that, he's generated a lot of buzz on whether he will re-sign with the Steelers or not.

Normally, I would say that the Steelers will do everything in their power to keep him, but the fact that they're $11 million over the salary cap is haunting them with Wallace.

Chances are, the Steelers won't be able to match opposing teams' offers.

    was he seen in Chicago?
the only rumor you heard is that PIT can't keep him?

All I know is that the Steelers try to restructure all their contracts :D

    I take him as #1

I will say this again, Vincent Jackson could be a HUGE mistake to sign, considering he will only sign for Max $. A 29 year old large 230 lb WR is absolutely NOT money best/most wisely spent, unless we were talking about T.O.

Stevie Johnson would absolutely be worth MAX money, if any FA WR was; it's definitely him. More so in my opinion than Mike Wallace, he appears too wiry to be able to hold up. Too much of a Chris Johnson factor with Mike Wallace. What happens if he loses a step? Another one trick pony. I wanna see a guy with Some strength at the WR 1 spot.

A solid-sized WR1 who runs great routes and plays with plent of passion.

    Is he divaish? YES.
Is he a lockroom intimidator or bully? NO.
Has he ever been arrested (charged with 2 DWI's?) NO.

I absolutely LOVE Stevie Johnson. People look at him & see a T.O. or Moss, when really he only shares petty similarities.

I see a player more in the Ochocinco mold, who is flashy but is he truly a detriment to a team? Not really.

State all the measurables or stats you want, with a simply average QB this guy has produced.

    He BEAT DARELLE REVIS.

The guy BEAT DARELLE REVIS. I seen it!

...the best part is he's only 25 years old!!!!!!!!

Stevie J has been known to be small in big situations, that's his knock. Not sure I would give him more max then VJax; although he is younger so the ceiling is probably not reached yet.

I would love Mike Wallace or Stevie J all the same b/c both are huge upgrades over what we have now.

Stevie J. is young and I believe his production in big games will improve with time so I'm not worried about that aspect. It's been reported that Wallace will be targeted by other AFC teams such as the Pats and Ravens so there just might be a bidding was that we want no part of.

    He is a RFA

It would cost us a 1st round pick and a 50 million dollar contract, that is a lot.

Nope. What do you think the Bills have offered him that he's turned down? Since VJax says his price tag is $50mil/5yrs I'm guessing Johnson isn't far behind. He's kid who was a real low pick playing for peanuts in rookie deal and $1.2 mil as a RFA in 2011. He's looking to make it up now. Even so, I wouldn't go that high.
I'm getting to that age where a lifetime warranty just doesn't mean as much to me anymore as an afternoon nap.
