Well now, ain't that intrestin? My gut tells me that the Chiefs will still be able to keep their guys that they want to retain, but it still opens a door a crack that I thought was most certainly closed and latched. Then again, just because the door has been opened a crack, doesn't mean WE will be able to afford him and still make other necessary moves.
The Greatest form of revenge is MASSIVE success.
They are letting Carr walk.
Routt is making 6 million a season and they are not paying him that so that he can be the nickle back.
My guess is Carr is going to get a Jonathan Jospeh type deal 5 years 49 million and that the Chiefs could not have 2 CBs making 50 million dollars.
Mr. Bowe, say hello to the Franchise Tag.

This is the terms of Routts deal but I'd bet even money they still won't let Carr go. KC is one of the top teams in cap excess and even after signing Routt they still have plenty to pay Carr an equivalent amount if they chose to. As far as Bowe and Carr are concerned I think they'll sign one and tag the other. JMO

I don't even think there's a slim chance they sign Carr anymore with both Flowers and Routt in-house. First of all, that would be a lot of money dedicated to your CBs (especially if you tag Carr), and secondly, why does Carr want to return to that situation? This move was very much made to prepare and protect themselves in losing Carr and secure Bowe, IMHO.

Good point. I'd forgotten they extended Flowers deal last year. I thought he was still working off his original contract. Well that's good news for us and hopefully Emery will look at him once FA begins. We need to sign a CB, find one in FA or both. Peanut isn't getting any younger and his salary for 2013 is nearly $8 mil which to me means he either restructures with an extension or he may be released.
