this is where it gets interesting. would either of those teams trade their guy for two second round picks-the marshal deal. This will give us a stud wr and open up our first round pick for many moves not excluding a trade down
why not just offer miami that for marshall

It says you an OG or DT, that's what it says. The only passes you's be seeing would be tackle eligible plays.

In Bowe's case it's pretty likely they will if he's still unsigned before FA begins. I Wallace case the idea of signing him with an offer Pitt won't match sending Pitt a first was just a send up by Matt Bowen. I think as he was doing was contrasting doing that in lieu of drafting one in the first because of the speculation surrounding these guys.

I haven't heard a peep from any other source but it makes sense on paper. We just don't know if Pitt will let him go under any circumstances even if they have to clear room for him by restructuring some deals. It's a 50-50 shot and more something to debate over on a "what if" basis than it's something that's very likely to happen.

Maybe the better way to debate this is this; If both Meachem and Wallace were there who would you go with. Meachem as more of an unproven player but an UFA or Wallace with a more productive history but a RFA who would cost picks? Let's assume we offer the same deal to each.

We could probably take the cap hit but why would we want to? VJ, if we trade for Marshall we have to honor his existing contract which pays him $9 mil and change over the next 3 years unless we can get him to restructure it. Mo is right. If we took on that along with the possible need to lay out almost $8 mil to tag Forte our cap excess disappears pretty quickly and hampers us from signing others.

Oh you said they, not we. I misread this. They can afford it. His SB was only $5.5 mil so they have just $3.3 unamortized. His 2012 salary is $9.3 mil so they gain $6 mil of cap space plus two 2nd round picks if the unload him. I think they'd listen to offers.

The problem is we wouldn't want him unless we could restructure those last 3 years.

I dont think they care about restructuring him his production is worth it. Problems arise is is he on the trade block and what is the price to pay for him

and with Wallace I think big contract and a first rounder over lets see what Meacham can do for us is worth it. He is a game changer while Meacham is just a complementary piece.

Another thing I like about Wallace is he has been productive in weather conditions similar to soldier field unlike Meacham has been meh while being coddled on a track field.

either way Bowe is my main guy and I would love to trade two 2 for him he is beyond worth that

That's another chip on Wallace's side of the table although I'm sure Meachem could adjust but it may take a season to do it. Both went to college at southern schools. The chip on Meachem's side is we don't have to give up a pick if he's a UFA.

In both instances (Wallace or Meachem) we can structure an offer that's as cap friendly for us as possible whereas with Marshall we're stuck with his deal unless he agrees to restructure it although that shouldn't be all that difficult to do if we offer a portion of it as a SB rather than salary as it is now.

I guess what it comes down to is do we want to spend draft pick (s) for a guy who isn't a UFA or are we better off to take our chances with a someone like Meachem who is. No matter how you cut it if we were to add Meachem we upgrade a bit. Add Meachem and Royal and we upgrade two positions. There are some potential options out there.

I like Meachem and so do alot of others but lets face it he's playing with one fo the top 3 QB in the league and still really hasnt shined to be worth his 1st round value he was selected with. I understadn what your saying about Marshall but at least we know what were getting plus there is a possibilty of restructruring plus your giving your franchise QB who and what he wants. I think 9 million for Marshall is a deal, i mena look what he's done in Miami without a QB

As for inking Forte a deal well, i like forte i really do but i have a feeling were gonna franchise him, i think we need to start at looking at dumping him soon and getting a younger guy in here wiht say a 4-5 year deal in place
