It's not surprising that the new regime in Miami has turned the page on quarterback Chad Henne, and will pursue a potential upgrade in free agency or the draft. But the Dolphins are further emphasizing that it is a new day on South Beach in that Henne won't receive any sort of offer from the team, even to return in backup role. Henne, a one-time second-round pick of the Dolphins, will become an unrestricted free agent on March 13, says the South Florida Sun Sentinel.
Henne had just 31 TD passes to 37 interceptions in his Dolphins career that produced a 13-18 overall record. His backup Matt Moore actually breathed some life into the offense in 2011 after Henne was lost for the season with a shoulder injury.
"Chad has done what we’ve asked him to do. I like Chad personally very well. He’s very smart. Very intelligent. Very tough. A football guy. He loves being around the game and is a very good teammate,” Dolphins GM Jeff Ireland said .“But this football team didn’t win enough games when he was quarterback here. But that doesn’t mean he did everything wrong, or right,” Ireland said of Henne, who produced a 13-18 record as a starter for Miami. ”If he goes somewhere else, Chad’s a good football player. He can play in this league.”
Some team needing a decent backup will take a flier on Henne, who could probably use a fresh start elsewher

Is Henne a better option than McCown or Hanie?

IDK Soul. Henne has had injury issues that make me hesitant and with our "O" line that may just be the red flag. JMHO though.

I don't know much about the guy since I rarely watch anyone but the Bears or the Broncos if they play at different times but this what I want. Some feedback on the guy. I should have put a question mark in the title.

depends on where he is with his injury but always thought coming out of college he was backup material. Edwards and Manningham made him

Since we're not going to the Super Bowl without Jay anyway we should talk about who's cheaper. Henne, Campbell, Orton or Garrard? And do we keep McCown as #2 or #3?

Chad Henne would be a great pick up for the Bears.
He has the arm and starting experience and has had success managing games.

I agree that we won't contend for a Super Bowl without Jay, but if it's a situation like this year where we need a backup to get us through a few games while Jay heals, then we still would like a decent backup. Out of those four you listed, I would imagine Garrard or Henne would be the cheaper option. Campbell and Orton are both probably going to want to go somewhere that they have a legit chance to win the starting role. I think McCown showed enough to stay on as our #2 or #3 QB.

Garrard would be cheapest by far I think. Considering he didn't play at all this year, and the rest were starters for at least part of the year, with some of them probably going to at least be able to compete for a starting job somewhere.

Like motown said.. he was just in the right place at the right time in college playing with manningham and edwards. Off the top of my head he also played with avant, breaston, and arrington while under llyod carr. With UM though I do remember him always stepping up his game for the big rival games and bowls.
In my opinion Chad Henne is the kind of quarterback that relies more on his football smarts than his athletic ability. He does get into panic-like runts though when the pocket is collapsing around him and he just throws it up to a receiver in coverage rather than out of bounds. He does over throw on the deep ball a lot. Because of that and his recent INT history we need to look for of a more game manager type with possibly a neck beard.
Its win or loss with Cutty... while we need a good reliable backup. More money needs to be spent elsewhere on the team.
