Look at what Paea did last years as far as lifting but it didn't move him up to the first because his size and technique issues meant more than raw strength. If Konz is a smart player, as Kruetz was smart, he'll do fine although whoever drafts him may want him to hit the weight room more often and build more strength. He'll need it in the NFL.

PS: At what point did this thread on Mike Wallace get hijacked?
There is 2 ways of looking at the Konz bench press issue.

    1. He is not a weight room guy and I question how hard he works and whether he has the functional upper body strength to play against NFL power NTs.

    2. He is dominant without being that strong imagine what happens when I get him in an NFL weight room and I make him strong how dominant will he be then?

I have not decided how I feel about it, but with the way that Cordy Glenn is blowing up the combine I expect Konz to be the 3rd ranked interior player on most boards.

I'll try to get this thread back on track. Since it is almost assured that the Bears won't be drafting a LT and it is equally as likely that they won't be drafting in the interior of the OL, I have to believe that the first round will be dedicated to somehow obtaining a WR. In that case, I think I would rather trade my first round pick to Pittsburgh and sign Mike Wallace. We could then go after some secondary and tertiary receivers in free agency like Meachem and/or Eddie Royal.

However, there are other options in the FA market that would cost no picks at all. I would much rather go with one of the other UFA's and save that first rounder for help elsewhere, then perhaps pick up another WR in the 2nd or 3rd. Wallace is good, but is he so much better than some of the other options that the "difference" would be worth our 1st?

So in other words, would you rather have Wallace himself, or would you rather have Johnson/Bowe/Colston/Meachum AND Ingram/Mercilus/Kirkpatrick/Decastro/Konz, etc.?
I've gotta agree with ya 4Da. I like Wallace & he would look great with a "C" on his helmet. But the only way I would give up a #1 for him is if all the top WR in FA were either gone or never made it to FA in the first place(franchised). Now if for whatever reason our options were trade a #1 for Wallace or miss out on all FA WR & have to draft a WR at #19, then I'd happily make that deal!
