Also, if we do sign a Mario Williams (legit stud) or Avril (overrated! clap clap clapclapclap) in FA, we would be dedicating something like $30M a season at the position (on two FA acquisitions, no less) in the very near future, and that's just not a sustainable practice.
Then what do you recommend that we do? We really need a pass rusher, and I just don't trust what is coming out of the first round enough to draft one. Maybe Nick Perry in the second round would be an interesting option no doubt, or we could bite the bullet and draft Mercilis depending on what he does at the Combine.

Wouldn't Mario Williams possibly come at a cheaper price tag since he spent most of 2011 on IR? I would imagine that there would be some risk in signing him. I don't know the nature of his injury from last year, but he should come at a price that is not as steep as what one might think. I don't think he's worth Peppers money.

No doubt, I think Avril is way overrated for the money he is asking for. He has only had one season where he has posted more than eight sacks (last year, he posted 11), and he's not even the best defender on the defensive line. I think he would cost way more than he's worth, that's for sure.

I want a receiver as well, but I'm torn as to whether I want to get a receiver like Colston or VJax or go after a few really talented second-rung receivers like Meachem, Royal, etc.
