How would you guys feel if we picked DT Dontari Poe [Memphis] the guy has a real Haloti Ngata feel to him?
6'3.5"
346lbs.
44 Reps at 225
4.97 [40]
I know that it is not a need, but the guy is an absolute freak of nature and could be an incredibly powerful and disruptive force in the middle of the defense.

I don't see why we wouldn't want a guy that can get pressure up the middle...we didn't get it from anyone consistantly last year, lets draft a guy to do it.

I was thinking about that myself but thought it was more of a luxury pick. Hell, have him play part time NT and he can play alongside Paea and Okoye. Throw in a big name FA DE and that's some real scary spice.

How can you say that? Melton got 7 sacks last years in his first year as a starter. That was 3rd best among DT's and the best year we've had from a DT since Tommie Harris got 8 before his injury.
Okoye added 4 more in part time play and Paea 2 playing very little. That's 13 sacks from inside which isn't bad at all. It's the 15 we got from DE's that concerns me. I doubt Poe will last that long but depending on how FA works out if the best guy on the board at #19 is a monster DT or a monster OG I'd grab him long before I'd take Floyd. You never pass up a great lineman on either side of the ball.
I'm getting to that age where a lifetime warranty just doesn't mean as much to me anymore as an afternoon nap.
