I say we draft Michael Floyd in the 1st and turn around in the 2nd and take Vontaze Burfict.

They would be like peas and carrots, two boneheads.

Neither can separate, wheather it be from a blocker or defensive back.

Those aren't two of my favorite prospects either and there are still some sites who predict the Bears will take Wright at #19 although he may even be undrafted in round one if the Bears don't take him. What you point about his 40 time is true. In the last two days I've read about one scout saying Wrights clocking in no way represents his true (and much faster) game speed. Conversely another scout and a GM questioned Floyd's game speed since he was nowhere near as quick doing drills as he was running in a straight line for 40 yards.

I've said all along that half these guy go to workout outfits whose specialty is nothing more than increasing a players speed or bench press strength specifically for the Combine and it doesn't mean that's a true measurement of either. I'll trust Phil Emery to have the ability to read no more into those measurables than he will into game film which tells a better story about the guys abilities anyway. We aren't drafting Olympic sprinters or weight lifters we're drafting football players.

Having said that I'd still stand behind be position that in order to be certain about a WR ability to contribute in 2012 we need at least one vet from FA and if we opt to draft a WR like Wright in the first round. Wrights reportedly only 5'10" and 190 lbs so if he's gonna be a #1 receiver in the NFL he'd better jump like Steve Smith and run like DeSean Jackson otherwise he'll struggle at that size. He's actually smaller and lighter than several of the guys you listed who who are 6' and over 200lbs which is about the smallest you want your #1 to be these days. He fits with Welker and Harvin as far as size is concerned but neither of them is a true #1 Split End either and Welker came into the NFL as a free agent not a first round pick.
I'm getting to that age where a lifetime warranty just doesn't mean as much to me anymore as an afternoon nap.
