So, the man known as kronik, and occasionally sox, has decided to grace you guys with his first real mock in a damn long time and first and only of this year's draft. No FA, no bells and whistles, just picks. I realized about halfway through these are mostly guys I wanted in certain slots before most postseason play began and I am still apparently feeling them after workouts. For the heck of it, I put in some of my quotes here about them earlier.
)Nick Perry, DE USC - This is very much a, "hope he's there," pick. "One thing to keep an eye on. Nick Perry supposedly up to 270 while keeping his freakish speed. Could be a game-changer for our pick, because I like the kids play with his hand in the dirt more than anyone but Coples, but his playing weight was worrisome."
)Marvin McNutt, WR Iowa - I see a lot of people pushing him in the third round and beyond, I just don't see his talent and tools lasting past the second. What I said last year, "There's a handful of incredibly talented BIG receivers primed to go in the first round, and I think it would be a shame for us to not walk away with one. However, the other side of that is the spillover of the other top talent into the second round and even third (McNutt) may provide us with the luxury of picking from a thinner position in the first."
-1)Brandon Mosley OT Auburn - What I said about a month ago on him, "Mosley is quickly becoming my favorite low-key OL along with Massie. Both those guys have some ridiculous feet and unlike most, I like both their chances at LT. I think at worst with those guys, you have two very big upside guards at the cost of a 2 or 3." All of what I saw was reaffirmed this weekend and what I said in the beginning of January on him, "Mosley has the athleticism for LT, but I don't know about his head," is no longer a big concern for me.
-2)Josh Robinson, CB UCF - A guy I was incredibly high on going into the season and think he fell victim to unrealistically high expectations for a zone CB. His Combine has him back up near the top of my CB board and we would be lucky to have him fall here.
)Devon Wylie, WR Fresno - What I said in January, "Love me some Devon Wylie. He's got a lot of shift and burn in him. Not just a squirmy, quick-twitch athlete, but also some breakaway speed and underrated toughness." Still love the kid and sadly think he will be off the board much earlier than this pick, but as of now it seems this is his stock.
)Tank Carder, LB TCU - Underrated beast of a prospect who I think fits perfectly at SLB in our system.
)Max Gruder, LB PITT - Productive leader, and I think our LB depth is just that thin.
)Brandon Bolden, HB Ole Miss - Great receiver out of the backfield with deceptive burst.
