2) Why don't we wait to see how Knox responds before we bury him okay. Where you come off saying it's just the beat (I assume you the sportswriter) who say he should return. His own doctors (who can be notoriously pessimistic) have said this is not a career ending injury that he will be able to play again. You're projecting and you have nothing to back it up other than YOUR OPINION that the doctors are wrong so at least acknowledge that it is opinion not some diagnoses by sportswriters of yourself. It's not about his injuries is it? You're last comment makes it clear you don't like the guy period so let's not hide behind the injury card. You don't like the way he plays and that's your reason for trashing him isn't it? Let's not forget that the guy is only 24 years old. He had close to 1000 yards in 2010 and would have been close again had he not been splitting time with that fool RWill and also gotten injured and missed 3 games. Despite that he had the 2nd highest average yardage per catch in the NFL, 19.6 yds and he also returned 15 kick offs averaging 26.5 per return which is a higher average than even Devin Hester. Let's consider ALL of the factors before we decide to kick him to the curb.
3) The Bears need 5 new WR's????????????????????????????????? You're out of your fooking mind my friend. Why don't you write that up and mail it in to Dan Pompeii's mailbag and see what kind of a response you get when he stops laughing. I'd just love to see where you're gonna find 5 new guys all of whom would perform better than anyone else but Bennett. Look even I'm rolling on the floor laughing. You should limit your Moosehead intake before you write stuff like this because your either crazy or drunk.
1. Where is your documentation that they don't suck.
The Bears WRs last season had 151 catches, 2260 yards and 9 TDs that is pathetic for 5 players.
2. I do not think that Knox injury will be career threatening, but Jeff Dickerson said the time table to return is more like 7-8 months than he 4-6 months that was reported intially. This means that the Knox will NOT be cleared for contact until August or right before the season. He will probably miss most of camp and the preseason. I am not going to cut him he is talented, but he cannot be relied on for a lot this season.
I think Knox is a nice #3/#4 guy who can get deep and return kicks, but he suffered a serious back injury and NO team in the NFL is going to think that he is 100% on opening day.
Again if you read my post I never mention that Knox should be cut.
We need 5 WRs at a minimum and I think that we have 1 healthy WR that is worth anything, and in this plan I would not be counting on Hill to produce a ton as a rookie.
3. I said the Bears need to have a minimum of 5 WRs on the team, not NEW WRs, but have 5 on the team and that as of right now we have 1 healthy WR that should be starting in the NFL. In no way do I think we need 5 new WRs that is beyond unrealistic.
I do not know why it is unrealistic that the Bears add 3 new WRs to the team? Last season they added Roy Williams, Dan Sanzenbacher and Sam Hurd.
I want 2 Free agents
1. Meachem/Garcon/Wayne
2. Royal/Douglas/Doucet
And at least 1 top 3 round draft pick,
Floyd/Hill/Sanu/McNutt/Quick
That gives us 3 new players to add to Bennett and Knox if he is healthy enough to resume playing.
My very next post I clarified what I wanted to do which was add 1 top free agent, 1 secondary free agent and make a draft pick. The exact thing that the Bears did last year, only I am spending more money and getting better players.
My Ideal WR core
1. Meachem [FA]
2. Bennett
3. Hilll/McNutt/Floyd [Draft]
4. Royal [FA]
5. Knox, my guess is that he starts the season on the PUP list.
6. Hester, because of the kick return.

Windy you are a prime example of the "don't confuse me with facts my mind's made up" set. What documentation do you want?
Bennett, arguably our best receiver, missed 6 games with an injury was a huge contributer when he returned then Cutler went down and then Hanie couldn't seem to find him but he still averaged just under 17 ypc. Not bad for a slot receiver.
Knox missed 3 games or he would have finished with about 900 yards receiving for the second year in a row and he shared the top spot with RWill who was so worthless for 90% of the season that he shouldn't even count. He also led the team in KOR average.
As I said above RWill was useless for over half the season and probably counts as one of JA's biggest FA flops ever. The guy caught all of 33 passes and give up how many picks by either running the wrong route or just not going after the ball?
Sanz looked good early then got a case of the dropsies and got benched and Hester chipped in with some catches so togther we got 50 catches from them and 4 tds. Hell of a lot better than we got out of RWill.
Essentially the passing game was carried by Knox and Bennett with some early season help from Sanz, who had almost as many receptions as our prize FA RWill and 2 more TD's than RWill. Hester chipped in but we've all said for years he's not an effective Flanker. So we lost a total of 9 games from our two top WR and we played a rookie for almost half the season and then there was RWill, LOL.
Now let's add in the 6 games we lost from our starting QB. About half a season where barely had time to cock his arm before the rush was on him and Hainie playing 5 of the last 6 games and you want to blame this all on our WR's??? I don't mind you putting it where it belongs but it pretty localized over RWill and Hester as far as I'm concerned and at this point in time even Hester doesn't count much.
We need upgrades but not 5 new receivers. Besides where would get 5 that would be better than all 5 of the guys we have and how could you afford them? Remember, you did a mock with us singing Carl Nicks for $60 mil. So we sign him and overhaul the entire WR core too. Are you gonna spend our first three picks on WR's or are you expecting late round rookies and UDFA to come in and steal somebody's job from them.
We could use two guys from FA but one is a must and a draft choice somewhere in the first three round and that should do for now. Let the dust settle from that before you massacre all of our current WR's.
I'm getting to that age where a lifetime warranty just doesn't mean as much to me anymore as an afternoon nap.

I think a WR depth chart like that would be outstanding. And I would be willing to keep Sanz around to for a six man depth.

i think we need to add three wrs also but papa that would just be the same bullshit depth chart we have been dealing with here the entire ja tenure. Doesnt anyone ever want more?
Soul are u really counting on Knox to contribute this year?

It's certainly not ideal, but I wouldn't classify it as the same bs depth chart we've been dealing with. I don't believe Meachem is currently a #1 receiver, but I think he at least has the potential to turn into one. Likewise, for just about anyone we draft in the first 2 or 3 rounds. May not produce right away, but would quickly be an improvement over everything we have now (with the possible exception of Bennett). I would obviously love to get a true #1 (I'd kill for Bowe), but if getting a couple #2's now allows us to build up our other deficiences as well, I'll take it. At least Knox and Hester would be buried on the depth chart and not miscast as #1's or #2's, right? lol

meach has been in the league for 5 seasons if he has any potential as a number one he would have become that especially coming out of NO system
I just get nervous of weighing down our cap with a bunch of number two wrs then that limits us going forward when its time to upgrade the position they say hmmmm we have 18 mil invested in Bennet, 40 mil invested in Hester, and 30 mil invested in Meach so there is no more love there to spread for a legit threat.
to me if we have the main guy no matter what his price tag we can easily find these number two targets in the draft which will save our cap from some rediculous contracts for average players.
