One difference I see almost immediately in Emery's words and actions is his lack of deference to the media. He goy criticized for what the called "non answers" or "vagueness" at his press conference and for being unavailable at the Combine which was considered bad PR. Good I say. The man was off doing his job.

Not telling the press bozo's his every thought about his team and his personnel plans is exactly what he should be doing otherwise why not just send a registered letter to all 31 other teams announcing who he plans to pursue in the FA and the positions he plans to draft in April. If you're really persuasive he might even drop a name or two.

At the Combine he left his GM/PR hat behind and came as what the man has always been. A scout and personnel evaluator. He didn't owe the press any of his time. If he owes anyone it may be a million or two long suffering Bears fans who wonder if that's really a light at the end of the tunnel or just Jerry Angelo's tail lights as he breaks to avoid hitting Mike Martz.

Jerry Angelo liked to play to the press and made a game out of being nicknamed "Slick". I've seen sandpaper that was slicker. The two guys who always seemed to go out of there way trying to outsmart everyone else are gone and I will not miss either Jerry Angelo or Mike Martz. I think we finally have a good football man running the team now. I'm anxious to see what his opening act is like and we won't have much longer to wait.
