Just a name that has been mentioned as a person of interest in FA. By the end of the day tomorrow we'll know whose been tagged and who hasn't. Then planning for FA will get somewhat easier although there will still be guys who will re-sign with their present teams.

I do not know about you Soul, but some of these franchise tags are getting ridiculous and I do not understand it.

The Cowboys are discussing franchise tagging Anthony Spencer?

It is but the costs are less than last year. Some of the guys teams tag, like a place kicker, seem a little ridiculous but for the most part I think it's just a way to stay in control of the player and continue to negotiate without competition. Not exactly the best situation for a player looking for long term security.

Some of these tags are just to protect the team and give them more time to work on a longer term deal or even facilitate a trade

Im happy he got tagged not a fan of his. Im on the Carr band wagon if we spend big on a DB

I think that's the gist of it too. The cost of these tags hitting the cap in 2012 will handicap teams in FA unless they have money to burn like KC and TB. We could cut a significant amount off Forte's cap cost if we can sign him rather than leave him tagged. Emery should be very motivated to get that done.

It looks like Bowe will get the tag. We should know today. If that's the case with Grimes tagged Carr becomes the top CB in FA. That would make him damn expensive. I'd put that money into a DE first if I could. We can survive better with 2nd tier CB's than we can 2nd tier pass rushers.

with Lynch and Foster deals done and numbers out there it shouldnt be hard for the two sides to be reasonable enough to commit long term. I honestly dont think Forte is as good as those guys.

Foster looks like a monster however I'll take Forte over Lynch any day of the week and twice on Sunday.*
