Guys I'm saying Jackson and Avril WERE two top targets before the franchise frenzy began. Obviously Avril not anymore. But Jackson in play.

At least Bears can pursue Vincent Jackson, who didn't get tagged. Jackson and Cliff Avril appeared to be the top two free agent targets.

Even some Bears thought there was a strong possibility Avril was going to be a teammate next season.

Lions put franchise tag on DL Cliff Avril, taking away one of the Bears' top free-agent targets.

It appears that the Bears are going to be very aggressive in free agency and look to make some big moves.

Vincent Jackson, I would be very happy with him and it would show that Emery is serious about fixing the offense in a short time. Jackson's price tag would be high, but at 6'5" 230lbs and with elite deep speed he is unique in this market.

Cortland Finnegan, I would be okay with him, but not a guy I am lining up for. At 28 the age is okay and I like his physical play as an option to beat up on the Packers WRs.

DE Robert Mathis is off the market, franchise tagged and close to a long term deal with the Colts.

Since they have been linked to Avril I wonder if the Bears will go after someone like Mincey now that Avril is off the market.

Should give us a good idea about Forte.
I think you're right on target mo. Now JA looks really foolish for that low-ball offer last fall. His argument that DWill got more because he was FA is now null and void and Foster comes in with another in the same neighborhood. Time to take out the checkbook and do it. No sense wasting time there is no longer any excuse for not coming in around $40 mil or so with 50% guaranteed. That's the market. Forte said it would get more expensive and JA should have listened. It did.
