I had no idea Bostad even left college coaching. I got the impression that was why we didn't get him. Guess Tice wasn't as tight with him as he thought. He would have been a great addition.

Didn't he just sign on at Penn State while we were talking with him? It's not all that surprising. TB has a whole new coaching staff with some time on their meters to get things turned around. Lovie and Company could be gone by 2013. If you're looking for guaranteed job security the Bears don't have as much to offer as TB does.

yeah - that's why I was surprosed. He had just gone to Penn State and so I thought he was off the board for any NFL jobs. I thought that's why we didn't get him. But the Penn job apparently was not what was keeping him from coming to the Bears. He ended up going to the Bucs, so he could have come here just as easily if he had wanted to.

Something turned him off of the Bears job. Maybe you are right and it was Lovie and crew.

May have been Tice, too. If Bostad wanted to be the main guy when it came to the OL, he knew he wasn't going to be that here with Tice still on staff.

I agree Houston, I think Bostad would have been a very nice compliment to our Offensive coaching group, and I thought his relationship with Tice was the only reason he was considering a job with us. Evidently not. One would have to assume that soul and papa are right, must be something about the future security at TB over Chi that enTICEd him.

Maybe TB simply made him a better offer than both the Bears and Penn St.

No doubt but was it the $$$ or was it the security? Things aren't exactly rosy in College Station these day with this Sandusky thing going on and Joe Pa's forced retirement and death. I think being fired broke the old man's heart and he nothing to live for any longer. PSU football was his life.

Well, I would have thought for sure any OL coach would have jumped at the opportunity to coach Omiyale.
