Dwight Freeney situation BEARS watching
Forget all that Mario Williams nonsense. Lets see what happens with Freeney and the Colts and the potential falling out. Freeney is a proven and effective Tampa 2 DE. And would certainly come way cheaper than Williams at age 32. And he's still got something left in the tank. The Colts clearly want to trim the old guard.

Except that Freeney isn't Mario's caliber, is entering the twilight of his career at age 32, and his cap hit is $14 million (reportedly he refuses to restructure) which makes him far from cheap. PASS

It's possible that he just says that in effect to make the Colts less likely to keep him since they won't win many games next year, since they cut everyone Luck could possibly throw to.

Do not trade for him he will count 14 million against our cap.
Let him get cut and sign him to a more reasonable 8-9 million for a couple of seasons, without giving up a draft pick.
The Colts are not paying him 19 million.

That sounds reasonable as a "stopgap" DE measure. The idea of paying big money + a draft pick for a guy on the downside of his career is ridiculous.
