PFT: Bears Pursuing Carl Nicks
With Colston done, Nicks still may be gone | ProFootballTalk
If Nicks ends up staying with the Saints, don’t expect it to happen until after he hits the market. Of course, once Nicks hits the open market, the chances of staying could be even smaller.
We’re hearing that the Buccaneers and Bears could be chasing Nicks, if/when he hits the market.

another report said saints offered him a pretty good deal

Well, now this is just getting ridiculous. lol There's no way we're going after MWill, VJax and Nicks (CNicks?). Good thing there's only 2 hours left!

My guess is we are going after 1 with a fallback to the others.
But the Bucs and Bears keep getting mentioned because they have a ton of cap room and have said that they would be aggressive in free agency.
Could be agents driving up the price.

Another reason why the Bears are being mentioned is because the line sucks.

Obviously we are taking a look at everyone. It does not mean that we are "going after" every guy they contact.

I like Nicks but he's gonna cost huge money, I'd rather get a DeCastro, Glenn, or Zeitler in the draft.

I agree there are a ton of draft prospects to bother dropping that kind of money at G. And although none that we have are pro bowlers and Im not a big fan of our oline but I think we are fine at G. I think if anything can we find an option to replace Webb

For better or worse it looks to me like the Bears are sticking with Webb another year. I think the entire line will improve just because of Tice's offense compared to Martz's.
