Last year was a damn shock to the system...we were primed for a Playoff run, Cutler AND Forte were expected to be back by then, we only needed to win a couple more games to get into the playoffs, but we couldnt even do that. So, a move like this would esnure that we have the talent necessary to carry us a couple games at least if need be so we dont repeat 2011
So, because hannie couldn't step up, we completely abandon the process?
That doesn't make sense.

He's big and mobile has a great arm and he's been fairly consistent throughout his career. He should be looking for a starting job somewhere but he'd make a great backup. He's a big step up from McCown.

they just said on the score Campbell would receive about 3 million a year. I don't know about that ... kinda pricey.

Jimmors is right that it "shocked the system" and in the current "win or else" state of mind that Da Bears, Lovie and this (aging) core group of veterans players it will be abandoned with hopes of setting yourself up to win a lombardi trophy.

In that case I prefer keeping McCown and drafting a decent rookie QB in the late rounds than spending $3 mil on a vet QB. Or give me Garrard, he's probably cheaper than Campbell.

No thanks to Campbell. I agree, your franchise qb's don't have capable vets behind them.

That's too much for a backup when the going rate is about $2 mil for an experienced vet. Keep looking.

Nah, let's try and wait him out. He would've gone to the playoffs with the Raiders last year, were he not to get injured. He was turning a corner, and I hope for his sake he becomes a good starter elsewhere, but he's my fav to be our backup (unless Pennington unretires)

I agree. I kind of like this deal. Having Jason Campbell as a backup couldn't be worse than Hanie (Nothing is worse than Hanie). If our o-line doesn't protect Cutler and Campbell has to come in we know he can run the ball. Once our line starts getting beat we're going to wish we had a running QB.

Just signed him to a one year deal
