People talk about Mercilus being a one year wonder, but that is exactly what this kid is, and his one year isn't even that impressive.
I have no problem w/the idea of Mincey, if the team feels it's the best move. Emery is proving to be far more schrewd then I thought he would be. Again, look at what we have in Marshal, 2 3rd's over the next 2 years, and 9+ mil for 3 years w/near no guarantee money. Garcon/Colston both got 40+ 5 year deal w/a ton of guarantees, VJ got 55mil 5 years ton of guarantees. The Bears walked away w/the best wr at the best price.
If he thinks Mincey is worth bringing in...I'm down.

And fellas I think the Mario Williams ship sailed once buffalo got involved. They are set to make him the highest paid defense player in league. I think we were in it until that happened. If he would take peppers deal I bet we would have been all over it
He is todays Peppers and it's two years later. Emery knows that. It will probably take a few bucks more than Peppers, but as long as it's close, I still think they do it. Peppers is getting older and we need to think about that. Without Peppers, our pass rush is more than (less than? lol) lame.

Nah, the Mario shipped sailed once we traded for Brandon. With Brandon and Forte's new contract to work out, we simply do not have the Cap space to add the most expensive D-player in the league, the math is not in our favor. Emery essentially had to make a choice: fight for Mario (which we dont NEED), or go after Marshall (a player worth much more then what we gave up for him). I think Emery made the right call.

True that Jimmors, we got the Best WR, and he cost us the least amount of money. And 2 3rd's over 2 years is a pittance in picks for that kind of WR.

There's always a way if you want it badly enough. It's all in the structure. Even with Forte's tag and Marshall's salary we were still $17 mil under the cap. Nothing is set in stone yet but if the Bears did bail they bailed too soon.
I'd much rather look and Wimbley or draft a pass rusher than sign Mincey. The Colts will be letting Freeney go too so I wouldn't be rushing into anything just yet. They should sign Hawthorne if they're not pursuing MWill anymore.
I'm getting to that age where a lifetime warranty just doesn't mean as much to me anymore as an afternoon nap.

I agree soul. I do believe the MWill ship has sailed as well, but you are right that it still has potential, albeit, very slight. I also agree completely with going after Wimbley over Mincey, but you could have probably guessed that by my previous posts.
However, if, in fact, MWill signs with Buffalo, there are still some very nice moves that we can, and should make. One of them is the very name you mentioned in Hawthorne, I will also throw out the name of Eric Winston again and of course guys like Ben Grubbs. Some of these guys are not big splash names, but they are guys that really make this a better football team. There is merit to improving several positions a little bit over improving one peice a lot. So far I like what we've done today, but while the Mincey thing would not be terrible, I think it would temper my enthusiasm a bit for the moves we HAVE made already. Hell, I even like the Costanzo signing. Sounds like a ST stud that will help keep Dave Toub's group among the best in the league.

Well, its not over yet....Mario reported that he wants to visit other teams (bad news for Bills, good news for us). So perhaps this might work out for the Bears after all, who knows?

I agree -- if we have given up on Williams, I'd like to see us go after Hawthorne and Grubbs more aggressively.

Until I see a report that MWill has signed with someone else.. I will hold out hope until the bitter end.

@PriscoCBS The kid plays hard all the time. Ate up some good tackles this season.

@PFF_Khaled would be real nice pickup. Our 12th ranked DE. Can play high snap & offers upgrade on what Idonije does in passing game

Jeremy Mincey played in 93.5% of snaps for #Jaguars last season. In comparison, Izzy Idonije 84.6 for #Bears and Julius Peppers 82.1.
