Well Major Wright is certainly faster but his instincts aren't as good and at times his tackling purely sucks. Speed doesn't do you much good if you can't determine where you need to be and can't tackle the guy if you do get there.
Steltz is a little bit better SS than Wright is but he doesn't have Wright's range. Since the Bears don't make a clear distinction between their Safeties both play like FS in certain situations and that's the place where Wright probably has the advantage. Within 10 yards of the line of scrimmage I might give the nod to Steltz.
We'll need to see what happens because there isn't much in the draft to brag on and vet Safeties can be a little pricey in comparison. Steltz is good enough for a backup and won't be all that costly.

Steltz is a very solid backup and knows this Tampa 2 well. If he's not looking for a ridiculous contract then they should lock him up. I'd hate to have to go into this season with a bunch of rookie safeties serving as backups. Though Mark Barron would be real nice at #19 if available. Guy is a beast.

We really haven't had a good safety since Mike Brown. Allowing crap like this to fester isn't gonna change that

Sorry but I don't trust the player evaluation skills of anyone who thinks Chad Pennington is a great QB. Although I admit he may make a great poster boy for Johnson and Johnson orthopedics adds.

I forgot to tag whoever it was that mentioned LaRon Landry, but I think that would probably be a good idea to get him as he is an excellent S and obviously would serve as the veteran leadership of the group on this team. It sucks that Chris Harris wigged out due to injury and that we opted not to re-sign Danieal Manning a couple of years ago.

I'd love a Conte/Landry safety duo. I think that'd be a great combo and upgrade our secondary right now. If Landry checked out and was healthy I'd be pumped for the Bears to add him, yet another first round talent to Chicago. Plus Skins signed Meriweather (haha) so they're obviously not back after him.

I like Steltz. He's grown with the team but he is a few steps behind even the average safety. Mike Brown was phenomenal except he was injury prone, kind of like what we are dealing with now. Perhaps investing in an injury prevention system would help.

I'm not up on this yet so my first question is what's wrong with LaRon Landry? The last time we picked up a SS the Skin's were through with we didn't do so good. If the Skin's preferred Meriweather to Landry there has to be something wrong with Landry. Call me crazy but do we really want the guy who Brandon Meriweather replaced?
