Here's What MWill Got From the Bills.............

Bills sign Mario Williams, new teammates express joy on Twitter

By Doug Farrar | Shutdown Corner – 2 hours 8 minutes ago

Mario Williams will now be the AFC East's problem. (AP)

Okay, AFC East -- it's your call. Who on the Buffalo Bills' defensive line do you single-block in 2012? Your choices include second-year defensive tackle Marcell Dareus, who showed true dominance in his rookie season; defensive tackle Kyle Williams, who can be just about unblockable when healthy; and the new guy in Buffalo ... some defensive end by the name of Mario Williams.

Every offensive line coach in the Bills' division just developed a nervous tic, because Buffalo has indeed agreed to terms with Mario Williams after a three-day courtship. Reports indicate that Williams will sign a six-year, $96 million contract with $50 million guaranteed, and the chance to go to $100 million with incentives. It's the first potential $100 million contract offered to a defensive player in NFL history, and it far exceeds the $84 million and $42 million guaranteed given to Julius Peppers by the Chicago Bears in 2010.

"Thanks to all the real Texan fans out there," Williams wrote on his Twitter account. "It has been a great ride for six years and I wish the team the very best. Much love to the players, coaches and staff. It is unfortunate to have to leave such a great place due to salary cap constraints and other intentions.

The first person to actually confirm the signing was cornerback Drayton Florence, Williams' new teammate, with two simple words via his Twitter account:
    "Welcome, Mario."
Bills receiver Stevie Johnson, who just got his own lucrative deal, was even more effusive.
I Love it! S/O to Them Buffalo Guys wearing The Suits for Making Things Happen this OffSeason! Let's Continue to Build! Welcome#SuperMario!
And here's the take of Bills running back Fred Jackson:
Super Mario is in the Building!!! We jus got better as a team!! #BillsMafia #LEGGO
Jackson also suggested that Buffalo shut down its airport after Williams landed, at least until Williams agreed to terms. As it turned out, that wasn't necessary.

Selected with the first overall pick in the 2006 NFL draft, the North Carolina State alum has 53 sacks in his six-year career. However, he has not enjoyed a season with 10 sacks or more since 2008, and he's missed a total of 14 games due to injury in the last two seasons.
However, if you want to know how respected Williams is around the NFL, let's check out Aaron Rodgers' Twitter reaction:
Congrats to Mario Williams signing in buffalo... far away from the NFC north, thanks big guy

$96 mil over 6 years, $16 mil per on average. My guess is that we were close but that doesn't count here.

I think what annoys me the most is Aaron Rodger comments. He knows he dodged a bullet here. Now let's go get a guy in the draft that's just as likely to make life miserable for him.

Rogers is no more than a annoying little pissant who folds like a house of cards when pressured or hit hard. Emery will make the right moves to shore up our "D" without breaking the bank.

I was so enjoying the thought of him trying to escape both Pep and MWill. Shattered dreams, LOL.

I fully expected the deal to be worth somewhere north of $100M. I think I would have felt better about this if it was. lol

I guess he can reach $100k with his incentives. You have to wonder where the Bears choke point was. Was it the total amount or the guarantees? Somewhere along the line we'll probably get some idea of what they offered. I figured we could come in around $90 mil with 50% guaranteed which was just a small bump from Pep and I thought that should do it. Guess I was wrong.

I still think if we were anywhere close to that the advantages of playing in Chicago would more than make up the difference. Publicity, endorsements and a shot at a SB over the next few years? Apparently that wasn't enough to sway him. I think there are far more intangibles that produce revenue outside of his contract if he plays here as opposed to Buffalo. Maybe we should have sent Michael Jordan to recruit him. He knows that score.

The prices for FA's are absurd; anyone complaining about Forte wanting his, just ask this question, who's a better/more important peice on their team...Forte and his probably 15-20 mil guarantee demands(along the lines of other RB's) or Pierre Garcon who got 40mil and that much in guarantees...also remember that WR's aren't imporant to win SB's, it's the qb the OL and the DL that win you SB's. WR is about the last piece you need.

Would have more than made up for it with endorsements in Chicago. Plus he would have looked nicer in the ads with that SB ring.

I hope we sign a DE and draft one and as our defense kills QB's and our offense powerhouses through defenses on our way to a Super Bowl ring Mario can watch at home as Peppers and the D take turns kissing the Lombardi Trophy. I'm sure he can afford some quality tissues.

ya b/c you cannot possibly get 10 mil in endorsements in Buffalo, which is just outside NY.
