1. Great locker room guy and a player involved in the community.
2. Can play every position except NT.
3. Can be a rotational guy and does not cost enough to keep you from signing Wimbley.
I really think if we do not sign Wimbley, deadline tomorrow at 3, that we will have Perry/Idonije or Mercilus/Idonije at LE next season.

As a LDE I'd much rather have Nick Perry. At this point in time I see Mercilus as a RDE pass rush specialist. That's what he did in college. He just laid his ears back and and tried to get to the passer anyway he could. He's not gonna have much sophistication as far as playing the run and you'll watch pro teams take him right out of the play when he gets too far upfield an loses contain on the edge or the bigger OT's will just ride him out of the play. I think of Mark Anderson with a little more talent when I think of Mercilus. If we take him I think he's gonna be strictly a RDE for the time being.
Perry on the other had played LB and has played the run and probably made pass drops as well. I look at his build and I see a guy with far more strength than Mericilus and better equipt to play RDE in rotation with Izzy. I'd don't claim to be an expert, sox is better at that, but from what I did see of them at the combine Mercilus really wows me as a pass rushers but I don't think he's as prepared to be an every down end as Perry and if he's playing LDE he's got to be able to play run too.
JMO.
I'm getting to that age where a lifetime warranty just doesn't mean as much to me anymore as an afternoon nap.
