    Zaidman: OL Not a Priority

Zach Zaidman believes that the Bears will NOT make any changes to the OL. He believes Webb will still be the LT. He states that the Bears may move some people around, but no major changes will happen. They are not expected to go after McNeil.

We have a good group. A lot of young players who will benefit from a full offseason at Halas Hall. For all the flack that Webb has gotten, people should remember he's 23 and still raw having moved from RT to LT with no real offseason last year. This is going to be a real good group with a new offensive system in place playing to their run blocking strengths. I'm excited about these young guys.

Did he say this in reference to just FA or FA and the draft?

Zach may not know. They can't read Emery. If we get some OL help in the second or nab Konz it's good depth for the future.

Why would we need to upgrade such an elite unit led by the worse lt in the league

I'm resigned to Webb given the overall OT situation and the possibility that CWill will push him in TC if those reports are accurate. But we still need one upgrade and a depth/developmental guy in the draft.

I'd love to see Zeitler in 2 (especially if CW is moved to OT) and an OT prospect like McCants or Mosley down draft. We have 3 OLs due to become FAs next year and Garza is aging. Plan for the future...

I'm not a fan of playing musical chairs with the young players, but Carimi really should have gotten first shot to prove he could (or couldn't) hang at LT. If by some miracle Tice changes his mind and swaps him and Webb in camp, I would be a happy man. As for OL as a whole not being a priority, I guess I can see that. I'm good with our interior now, but at the same time know we would benefit by picking from this deep OG class to make up for the expiring contracts and Garza's age next season.

    I'm thinking...

FA: sign Hawthorne, Okoye, and Graham

    Cut: Spaeth, CDavis, Barber

    Draft:

    1) Perry or Mercilus
    2) Zeitler
    3) Marvin Jones
    4) CB
    5) McCants/Mosley/Schwartz

I wouldn't mind seeing Garza & Spencer being moved back to their traditional positions come next season. Carimi lost nearly a full year of adjusting to the speed of the game so I think having Garza along his side will help in his development. Also I would imagine we will be seeing a lot of the TEs chipping on the ends to assist Webb/Carimi as well during pass protect before running their routes as well.

If there aren't any FA/Draft additions that can improve our current situation and Tice does play some musical chairs, I wouldn't mind the list below being the starters once the music stops.

    LT - Webb
    LG - Williams
    C - Spencer
    RG - Garza
    RT - Carimi

I'm figuring Tice isn't gonna move Carimi but he might for CWill. He's a FA next year and he's been moved before, so see what he's got to know if you want to keep him in 2013.

Between CW, LL, and Spencer, we aren't gonna keep all 3 of them next year and Garza is aging so we need to add talent to this OL. WR can wait till the 3rd in this year's draft IMO.
