Bears Mock Draft [Cordy Glenn]
Signings
DT Amobi Okoye
LB David Hawthorne
Draft
1[19] OT Cordy Glenn [Georgia] 6’6” 345lbs.
The Bears have an OL of totally replaceable players and Glenn has the size, talent and versatility to play all over our line. Glenn has played LT, LG and RG for Georgia and has freakish athletic ability to go with his size. Glenn can come in and compete with Webb and if he is beaten out he will become a massive upgrade to Willams at LG. If Carimi’s knee has a setback then Glenn can move to RT. His versatility allows us to put the best players on the field. If the Bears are going to throw the ball downfield they need a player that can physically dominate the line of scrimmage.
Webb plays well
LT: Webb
LG: Glenn
C: Garza
RG: Spencer/Louis
RT: Carimi
Webb struggles in camp
LT: Glenn
LG: C. Williams
C: Garza
RG: Spencer/Louis
RT: Carimi
Carimi's knee gets hurt again or is not ready
LT: Webb
LG: C. Williams
C: Garza
RG: Spencer/Louis
RT: Glenn
This tape is against LSU and Sam Montgomery who is considered a 1st round pick.

2[50] DE Vinny Curry [Marshall] 6’3” 266lbs.
With the re-signing of Idonije the Bears can afford to wait a round and get a rotational pass rusher to add to the group. Curry might not have the athletic ability of Whitney Mercilus, but he also does not have the bust factor that comes with the rawer pass rushers. Curry has the pass rush moves, energy and the first step to be an instant upgrade to the pass rush and a player that can be counted on to get hustle pressures.

3[80] CB Casey Hayward [Vanderbilt] 5’11” 195lbs.
The Bears need CB depth that has the size to start and Hayward combine the physical skills to start with the ability to generate interceptions. Hayward has the balls skills that Lovie demands and does not shy away from contact. Hayward can come in and compete immediately with Tim Jennings and provide depth.

4. DE Jake Bequette [Arkansas] 6’5” 275lbs.
Rather than try and plug every single hole on the team the Bears draft another DE to fill the pass rush need. Bequette does not have athletic ability to jump off the tape, but he has a consistent pass rush and the length and speed to create pressure. Bequette has the pass rush ability to step in and contribute to the pass rush.

5. LB Danny Trevathan [Kentucky] 5’11” 238lbs.
The Bears need to add LB depth and while Trevathan may not have exceptional athletic ability, but he has the playmaking ability and the speed to be developed as the WLB of the future. Trevathan tackles everything that moves and can be developed as a long term replacement to Briggs.

6. WR Gerrell Robinson [Arizona St] 6’4” 225lbs.
The Bears have addressed the #1 WR position and they have added depth with Weems, but they need to continue to develop young players. Robinson has exceptional size and hands and provides the Bears with a big target to develop behind Brandon Marshall.

7. CB Robert Blanton [Notre Dame] 6’1” 195lbs.
The Bears again continue to add players to a position that needs bodies to develop. Blanton is limited athletically, but he has the size and tackling ability to contribute at CB or at FS.

Now we're back to this huh? We draft an OG we don't need all that badly passing up DE's who have a rep as pass rushers and take a DE in two who doesn't come into the pros as a top pass rusher.
Unless the Bears are blowing smoke up everyone's ass or they have an alternate plan to sign a pass rusher I would take the comments that Oline is not a priority to mean we won't pick one in the first round.
Call me crazy but when they make a point of saying that at least a dozen times or more every time they're questioned about it I'd tend to believe them. Windy, you've got OGitis and I'm sure it's incurable. LOL

What's your mock look like Soul?
Honestly, I like the idea of a OG that can also play T....and apparently so does Tice b/c he keeps moving all these players around like they're all one position, so it would kinda make sense.
I would perfer a DE or WR, but again, I'm all for BPA, and if Glenn is tops on the board, grab him and move on.

Sorry not feeling this mock. The only OG I would like with our #19 would be Decastro.

Windy you know I don't do mocks and I also;
Don't project spending a 1st round pick on a highly rated OG and assume he can play OT in the NFL just because he can block people. Why don't we draft Michael Floyd put 20lbs on him and make a TE out of him. He catches footballs and a TE catches footballs so they must be similar huh?
Yesterday you were on the "lets get a pass rusher wagon" now today it's back to Cordy Glenn as an OG/OT. Was that your evil twin posting yesterday?

Other than being 345lbs why do you think that Glenn cannot play OT?
I think that Glenn is one of the most valuable OLmen in the entire draft and mock drafts are starting to reflect that.
The guy can play OT and bring an incredible size/athletic ability combo and if for some reason he fails he is not going to provide you with a Chris Williams stand in at OG he will give you a dominant OG.
Glenn is one of the safest picks in the 1st round and his ceiling is as a really good LT and his floor is as a dominant OG, that sounds good to me.
Watch the LSU tape.

The National Football Post Rankings
Cordy Glenn [12th Overall Prospect in the Draft]
Whitney Mercilus [66th overall prospect]
These ready made impact pass rushers people talk about are not that highly thought of by everyone and come with some serious risk.
There is almost 0 bust potential with Glenn.
At best he upgrade your terrible LT.
At worst he upgrades your mediocre LG.

Meh. Windy sox follows these guys even more than you and even he doesn't believe the guy can play outside.
Edit: Let me just add that if CWill moves to LT we may need an OG but we can still draft one of several very good OG's in the 2nd round. You've listed three yourself. What we can't get is a very good pass rusher.
The next tier of those guys are about like Alex Brown. Good solid players maybe but not top notch pass rushers. We already have a guy just like those guys in Chauncey Davis. He's decent ball player but not a great pass rusher.
Those guys are easy to find but the guys who can give you double digit sacks year in and year out aren't. That's who we need and we need to draft one because we couldn't buy one.

Nothing that is being said right now should be believed it is all lies and misdirection. What tactical advantage do the Bears get from sharing any true information about their OL?
Cutler just said in his interview with Zaidman that he expects OL to be a priority moving forward and in the draft, he also asked for Brandon Marshall.
What DEs are we passing on that you would be upset about? Because they are all ranked significantly lower and have more question marks than Glenn.
In this plan we upgrade our OL and add 2 young pass rushers that can learn from our established vets. And I am willing to bet that Curry has more immediate impact than Mercilus as he is a far more polished pass rusher, he just does not have Mercilus' physical upside.
