I wonder what the deal is with Coples. The guy has dropped as much as 12 spots from a previous mock by NFP. If this is accurate there must be some concerns about his motor because he has all the other tools he needs to dominate.

Floyd is another who was a top 10 pick in the last draft and now isn't even in the top 20. All it takes is some teams like the Bears who needed a WR badly to have filled that need in FA to drop the guys back that far. It has less to do with him as much as it does need.

This is one reason why those pre-FA mocks are just a way to keep readers interested. Things change so much after FA and they'll change even more the closer we get to the draft.
I KNOW, RIGHT? That is exactly what I thought soul, until I started watching some of his clips this afternoon. That's all I've been reading is that he is a "Finesse LT", and I want no part of a guy with the "Finesse" label. But as I watch his clips, he looks like he attacks his first target, and releases well to get to the next level appropriately. The next thing, he's SMART enough to know the appropriate "next target" at the second level. I don't know man, this could be like you referenced in the other thread about pro scouts obviously knowing more than we armchair scouts, and they do, and they also have much more tape to review than we do. However, I frankly LIKE what I see from his run blocking. I didn't even watch much of his pass blocking. He's obviously dropping for a reason, but I haven't seen it with my layman's eye.

I also wish we didn't have to keep considering O-Line with such a high pick. This should have been resolved already. I'm ready to start looking forward to sexy picks without having to worry about keeping our QB upright if we pass up a real LT. Unfortunately, I am not one who thinks the Webb experiment has ANY chance of ever succeeding, but I'm eager to eat crow if I'm wrong. He has all the physical tools in the world, but the grey matter just wont cooperate.

Yea, someone sees what I see - in Martin AND in Webb ( who's physical tools are over-rated ).
What should you call any : Fumble , Hold , Interception , Three and out , or Sack ?

    A " F.H.I.T.S " ? or a J'Marcus ?

Well if all of our pass rush prospects are gone I'd rather see us draft him than a WR like Kendall Wright. It isn't so much what he does or doesn't show on tape but rather remembering what Tice said about his kind of guy. He wants OT's who can play OG and I just don't think Martin fits that description.

The mock has him going to the Lions where I think he's a better fit as an eventual replacement for Jeff Backus. I just think he's a better prospect for a pass driven team is all. It's not so much his talent or lack of it but how he fits with the Bears concept of an OT. He could be a good fit with any team that uses a zone blocking scheme like Denver but we don't use that kind of a system. Although with Forte I wish we would.

I know it's crazy since we got Marshall, but I find it hard to believe that we pass on Floyd if he's still there at 19. We still are unsure where Knox is going to be, and that leaves hester as our 3rd WR...I'd pefer Hester and Knox to be 4 and 5 to be honest.

What's crazy about Floyd is that nobody seems to know exactly what they've got in him. He's still ranked overall where he always has been but he's going up and down like an elevator in the mocks so who knows. Maybe it's all adjusting itself for who signed who in FA and whose needs have changed.

Personally I don't see the need. Marshall is bigger, faster, more experienced and a legit star WR so at least we have something sure to counterbalance his character issues against. Floyd's in kind of an unknown in that regard. I'm not saying he's wasted pick but we have bigger needs than another king size WR right now and we need to address those first.

Windy wants an OG, Blue Horse-shoe wants a LT, you think we should draft Floyd somebody else will vote for Kendall Wright but I think most of us agree that given who we'll most likely have as choices a pass rusher if probably at the top of our list if the right guy or guys are there. Otherwise I'm all for a BPA pick because no matter who we take isn't gonna be a bad pick. Not even Floyd or Gordy Glenn.

    I agree Soul

    Kendall Wright
    Michael Floyd
    Jon Martin
    Cordy Glenn
    Whitney Mercilus
    Nick Perry

All of these guys would be significant upgrades at their positions.

Go read my thread on Dan Pompei's mailbag where he talks about DeCastro and my response. Then read what I posted about what Todd McShay said about him and how he think he may be positioned in the draft and that we may have a shot at him at #19 or close to that.

If, and that's a huge if, DeCastro was still on the board at #19 regardless of greater needs I don't know that you could afford to pass on him and I would fore go a pass rusher for this guy and this guy alone and find my pass rusher elsewhere. No matter where you plug him in he's an immediate starter and he will make whichever OT he plays next to all that much better. The guy is a future All Pro and the chance to take a lineman of that caliber may not come again for a very long time.

A legit question might be just how much better did DeCastro make Martin on that Standford line and is it possible that's one of the reasons Martin isn't rated as highly as the others. Just sayin'.

Now having said that I doubt he'll still be on the board because KC picks before we do and they draft lineman like we do Safeties. But.........we've got Emery now and just maybe he can think a way around that if he really wants the guy. I can't but help believing he sees the guys talent as well.

I read that piece too and I have no idea where Pompei comes up with the "not elite" label for DeCastro. He's as close to elite as any rookie ever comes. If he were an LT instead of an OG, he'd be an automatic top-5 pick. Rumors are Dallas wants him (or KC as you said) so I kinda doubt he reaches 19. But if he does, it would be hard to pass up. It's also hard to foresee a scenario where Decastro falls to #19 w/o a run on DEs & WRs preceding it that exhausts a number of other options anyway. At the least, taking DeCastro in such a scenario would basically force Tice to move CWill to LT in competition with Webb...there's no way DeC doesn't start at LG for the Bears over any other player.

Soul. I'm 100% bpa, I don't want Floyd over anyone else. Whoever is highest rated on the board is who I want.
