Matt, you're basically being paid this year like you're the third best back in the league. You really just need to be quiet. Or you should haven't been so damn stubborn last year and signed a deal.

he has a 7.7 mil contract and he is being disrespected lol. Good god how about we find out what he is calling fair compensation cause I think the contracts are there for what he should get.

and I would trade him to either Cincy or Browns for their first rounder since they have two of them. Fix the oline with that pick and it wont matter who the hell the rb is

    An open letter to Matt:

Outside of your family and friends, your biggest fans are fans of the team you play for first. I'll wager there are very few, if any Chicago Bear fans that do not want to keep you in Chicago. However, the only side we know is the side the Bears have reported. Many think the deal you were offered last year was fair while others do not. Obviously you agree with the latter. I think I can speak for most fans that thought a deal with you would be a slam dunk once Jerry Angelo left. However, now it appears that the deal offered by the team under not just ONE, but TWO GM's is not good enough. It truly begs the question, just how much are you seeking? Since your price is now too high for Emery as well, it certainly leads fans to believe that perhaps you are wanting more than what you are worth. I think we would all like you to stay, but not at the risk of jeopardizing the teams capability to compete in other areas.

    Respectfully,
    4DaBers.

Players don't care about the franchise tag in terms of money, I doubt he's looking to beat 7.7 by a huge number or anything. Players feel disrespected when they're tagged because that gives them ZERO insurance for future years. They're putting their bodies on the line if he was hurt next year while playing under the tag it could ruin his career and he won't be getting future money. Players want security for the future.

NFL contracts do not give players any future security. What they want is that up front guaranteed money.

And let's not overlook the fact that he has been offered a contract at least 2 times that "gives him future security" (read: upfront guaranteed money).

Alright fair enough, the guaranteed money is security for the future as well. If he's hurt in week 2 with a franchise tag and it's a career ender he's gonna have to go get a normal job. With a multi-year contract there's the guaranteed as well as a feeling that you'll be with the team barring injury.

Players seem to look at franchise tag as the team not holding value in you for more than a year to year basis.

My thought exactly! Signing Bush seems like a shot across the bow to Forte.

    MF + Bush + Bell = awesome

    But...

    Bush + Bell + Allen/udfa/rookie = adequate if MF won't play
