I really don't see anyone giving us a high pick for a player that wants to be over paid. Similar to Mike Wallace, several teams would pay big for the services OR give up a draft pick, but few would do both. I could be wrong, but that was my premise for suggesting a trade for Wallace; both teams get a need, neither gives up a valuable pick, but both have to pay up. The Bears can pay big for Wallace and the Steelers can pay big for Forte.
The reality is the premise, not the actual players in this scenario. If we find another franchised player, then look to trade with each other so neither loses a pick. Obviously, Wallace is not Franchised, but the effect is the same for a RFA and the needs match up with the personnel for both teams.
The Greatest form of revenge is MASSIVE success.

If you like ypc, so be it. If, as footballoutsiders do, you correct for down, distance and opponent, Forte looks far far weaker. He didn't get the 3rd and 1 carrier that bring and average down nor as many red zone carries. Actually Barber's stats were comparable to Forte's perhaps more so if one could figure out how to correct for the fact that Forte got almost all his carriers with a serious passing attack threat (pre-Cutler injury) while Barber got a lot of work with Hanie and the less serious passing attack threat. Similar analysis applies to Bell. I would argue that Bush, being a better pass protection blocker and a roughly equal receiver, along with being a better back in the really important red zone carriers, is Forte's equal ... at half the price.
Would love to get a first rounder for Forte but if a second was the high bid I would take it. Bush/Barber/Bell/scat-back would look good to me.
Then again, I ain't a profession at this.

Forte and our 4th round pick to Miami for OT Jake Long.
Emery seems to have Jeff Ireland's number.

Forte was also the only thing any D had to worry about on our O, where Bush had WR's , and a QB that could hit them, and a better OL. #'s only get you so far, you have to look at the team around them.

Yup, absolutely agree with your point that the team around the RB is a very strong determining factor. That was why I compared Barber to Forte (about the same team around them although I think Forte's 'helpers' were better because of Cutler). Bell as a little behind on the FO stats, but he got most of his carries without Cutler (a correction they do not make, and I don't blame them, hard to quantify THAT). Interestingly Bush looks to be fully up to McFadden in Oakland, across the years they were both there. To be fair, I have seen nothing like as much of Bush as Forte so I am simply passing on newspaper writer comments on Bush's ability to block.

Why? Because Matt Forte for all he can do well does not do well in goaline or other short yardage situations which is why we signed MB III last year and it's the same reason we signed Bush this year. To do what Forte cannot.
Hey Greg. You're with the Panthers now so
.
And as for the Raider fan he can
too. Since when do we pay any attention to them. Did he say that Jason Campbell was a crappy QB too. Michael Bush rushing TD's = 7. Matt Forte rushing TD's = 3, and how many of those came from less than 3 yards out? Sorry but I'd rather see Bush toting the ball on the goaline than Forte. Forte has never been any good down there. He runs to upright and his stride is too long. He doesn't have quick feet.
I'll take a big back who can run for 4 yds per carry and score from inside the 3 yard line. We don't have on of those and we need one. It was a good signing.
EDIT:
RB Michael Bush signs with Bears

The Bears have agreed to terms with former Oakland Raiders running back Michael Bush on a four-year contract worth a reported $14 million.
The 6-1, 245-pound Bush, a fourth-round draft pick out of Louisville in 2007, played in 62 games in four seasons with the Raiders, getting 16 starts over the past three seasons. He rushed for 977 yards on 256 carries (3.8 yards per carry) with seven touchdowns last season.
With his versatility, Bush could be the best complementary back the Bears have had since Matt Forte became their starter in 2008. Bush has the size to score inside the 5-yard line — he has 15 rushing touchdowns over the past two seasons, including 13 from the three yards or less. He is a productive receiver — he had 37 receptions for 418 yards (11.3 per catch) and a touchdown last year. And he can carry a heavy load as a No. 1 back -- he had 30 carries for 157 yards and a touchdown against the Chargers and 30 carries for 109 yards and a touchdown against the Vikings in back-to-back road games last season. (Who said he's a poor short yardage back or goaline back? Looks to me like all of Bush's 2011 runs came from within 3 yards or less. Forte hasn't had 13 TD runs from inside the 3 yard line in his entire career.)
With Kahlil Bell being tendered as a restricted free agent, it appears Marion Barber’s short career with the Bears is over. Bush also gives the Bears a viable option should the worst-case scenario ensue in negotiations with Forte on a long-term contract. (Funny how there's that little benefit too)

I don't know that anyone would give up that high pick either but with as few top RB's as are in this years draft now is the time to find out if we're ever gonna. We really don't need Wallace as badly as we could use that extra pick and the $7.7 mil we'd save which could add a few more players.

Ha, if Miami is dumb enough to make that trade Ireland should be running an Arena League team. Well on second thought he almost is anyway. That would be a way of further disrespecting Forte though trading him to Miami.
