For a 2nd and 4th? PASS.
That is the whole point of a FRANCHISE TAG. First round at least. Especially NE's 1st rounder, because they are typically at the bottom of the round anyway.

We cut a good backup QB so you could sign him and gave you all those high draft picks for Cutler that McDikhead wasted for you so don't expect us to come bailing you out of one of them.

I'd put more belief in a rumor that Paris Hilton was joining a convent of the Little Sisters of the Poor than I do in this.
PS: One other small detail overlooked here is that Forte isn't under contract right now so he can't officially be traded without some form of an agreement or contract. The other issue is does anybody realistically see the Pats offering him a 5 year $40 mil plus deal with over $20 mil in guarantees?
But all things considered this has been a fun exercise in debating what we should be asking for as a minimum in the event that an opportunity does come up prior to or on draft day.

The Bears just traded 2 thirds for a guy that was going to be cut. You're front office is a joke. They won't even get a first for one of the top 3 rb's in the NFL.

You still pissed over the Cutler trade huh? That and the fact that we got a top 5 WR you guys couldn't keep anymore than your QB and had to trade for two seconds. Now we've got both together they cost us less than half of what Manning is costing Bowlen. Your looking at two guys you lost that cost you any chance you had to even make the playoffs these last few years and on the Bears they can put us in a Super Bowl.

1.The "he was going to be cut" line was just to save face (i.e. make it look like they got a sweet deal instead of nothing if he were "cut".) And obviously that line has worked pretty well since you gobbled it up as if you were a Thai hooker getting paid $20.
2.YOUR front office just signed Caleb Hanie. So you have no room to speak.

I'd do this deal...
draft
DE, WR and OL with 1st + 2nds
OL, LB and RB with 3rd + 4ths
would have enough Cap Room to sign a DT like Okoye/Jones and sign Defensiv back depth like CHayden + Saftey
