However, it's simply not even a remote possibility. The Pats MIGHT give up the picks, and that's a big first hurdle, but the thing that makes this rumor stop dead in it's tracks is the FACT that the Patriots do not value the RB position enough to pay Forte anywhere near what he wants, much less the going rate of the Franchise Tag for RB. If they wanted to pay a RB, they would have kept Green-Ellis for the $3mill he was askin.
It's simply not going to happen.
You will probably see an uptick in rumors today as people are tweeting Evan Silva's prediction article as fact. That's what caught my attention and caused me to seek the source.
I do think Forte will ultimately stay in CHI. It's a smart decision by the FO to bring in Bush (although im surprised Bush was interested as he could have gotten the cinci job to himself or at least been the better half of a committe). This tandem rivals that of Foster/Tate. I like the Bears chances in 2012 and still think they need to invest high in WR. I've never been a Cutler fan and never will be (and why i'm a closet fan and not a true fan!).
Good luck in 2012 gents. May the Forte be with you.
PS - Shefter just RT'd that both teams have said there is no chance of this happening. I take that to mean that the discussion either never happened or that it was extremely brief. FWIW
Hey Phorts, no worries. I think we all know the original source (incarceratedbob) is far from credible, and the potential here (at least with the Pats) is far fetched. However, given Matt Forte's current position, the timing of the owners meetings, FA, and the upcoming draft, rumor mongering is good fun. Besides, we are all craving something to bite into at this point in the year.
Nice to have you pop in though.

I think it's safe to say I believe that article I posted second in this thread. Incarceratedbob is a bullshit slinger with zero connections or sources.

Welcome to the board phorts. Truthfully I couldn't see it either. Few teams will give up valuable picks to buy a RB who wants $8 mil per year when you can draft them all day long and pay $1-$2 mil and get a good back. Shoot Arian Foster made less than $500k per year until this new deal which is about half of what Forte made off his rookie deal.
Thanks for stopping by and I gotta ask, how'd "Fitzy" take that SB loss. That guy has the funniest fan site I've ever tripped across. I assume you guys follow him out there. Come back and visit often.
I'm getting to that age where a lifetime warranty just doesn't mean as much to me anymore as an afternoon nap.

Please Forte, sign that deal...
5 years with 19 guaranteed would be fair...
I'd prefer 4 years with 16-17 guaranteed
