Minimum deal you would take in return for Forte

Say a deal cant get done and instead of an ugly holdout and an unhappy Forte we part ways with him

What is the minimum you would accept in return?

Since it would be more than likely draft picks how would you use them and the free cap space?

Personally if we cant work out for a top 20 pick or a late 1st and say 4th i would hope Emery walks away from it and hopes forte brings his asking price back to Earth

Hypothetically if we got another first rounder I would like to see

1st (2) Flloyd/Hill/Perry/Decastro/Konz

2nd
BPA filling the spot (de/wr/G or C)
We didnt nail down in round one

Bottom line-If we cant get a first dont make a deal!

I completely agree. I wouldn't take anything less than a top-20 pick or a collection of picks that equals a top-20 pick. If we don't get that, then make Forte play. He plays or he doesn't get paid.

the least I would take is Colts second round pick and a third next year

I know its steep but either a top 20 pick or picks to equal it

Bears hold all the cards and need to hardball any buyers because its not like we have to move him we can just keep the tag on and let him be a bigger man and play hard again for a big deal or be a whiney bi&@h and bush/bell will take over

As unlikely as it would be I'm sticking to my top 20 pick or the equivalent in a combination of 2012 picks. I would not be looking for a future pick in the 2013 draft. That automatically cuts the value by one round so a 2013 3rd is equivalent to a 2012 4th. Picks at the end of a round are worthless without a kicker to use to trade that pick higher.

All the rumblings about Forte and a trade are just a heaping pile of horseshit. There isn't one legit source carrying a story about it this AM so whatever was posted is garbage. There's nothing in the works between the Bears and the Pats or any other team.

You can say that the Bears are listening to offers but that says nothing. All that means is another team called on them phone and told Emery that they'd be interested if he decided to offer Forte for trade and they'd be willing to go as high as blah, blah, blah. It means absolutely nothing right now.

I have a very valuable custom built guitar and most anyone could call me and make an offer to buy it from me but it's not officially for sale and I'm not looking to sell it for far less than it would take to replace it which is what and offer from NE of a 2nd and a 4th would be like. It's way below Forte's replacement value. In this draft the only back of comparable talent is Trent Richardson so if you asked me how much I'd want I'd say enough to replace him with Richardson.

That's should drive the "tire kickers", "looky loo's", and "vultures" away.

a 1st and 2nd. Absolutely ridicules to go into a discussion low-balling yourself.
Maybe a team is desperate enough to go for it.
He's a proven to 10 performing NFL back, something no one in the draft can claim.

That's just a tad more than we got for Olsen. Why would you trade a back of Forte's stature for a #63 pick and a #95 pick? Combined those two are about the same as a mid round 2nd or just about where we drafted Forte to begin with. I'd trade with you for you best offensive players every year if I could keep getting them for mid 2nd round picks. No way to you let a franchised player go that cheap.

That FT is equal to or greater than high tender for a RFA. If you want that guy you give up a 1st round pick to the team that has him. In the case of the FT the current team has even more power since no one can even negotiate a new deal with him unless the teams can agree on compensation and permission is given. The current team has 100% of the leverage and the player and any other team interested have zero unless an agreement is reached.

So you put a price on that and wait until someone meets it or at least gets close enough to consider it before you do anything. Tagged players are not FA so you don't need to worry about being outbid. The deal has just two parties to it unless the current team allows a third party to join in which would be foolish if they offered less than you were willing to take.

They'll find a way to get this settled. I don't think the Bears want to trade him because it would be tough to get fair value and I don't think Forte wants to flirt with the threat of an injury costing him millions. There's no rush right now. Camp is months away.

I do not want him to be gone, but it's more than we got for Olsen.
I just think that RB is a "bargain position". Unless you have a AP or Foster, there is no need to pay that much for a RB. I wouldn't want a 5 year Forte contract. Give me 4 years with around 16-17 guaranteed. And I wouldn't call that a bargain...

Bell could become a reliable back with Bush.


Don't forget that we don't even get picks, we get Cap Space we really need to bring back Okoye, sign a depth LB and depth CB.
