Good luck Hanie
Broncos sign backup quarterback Caleb Hanie

Getty ImagesWe noted this afternoon that the Broncos were trying to make it happen, and now it has happened: Caleb Hanie is heading to Denver.
Hanie has signed a two-year contract with the Broncos, ESPNChicago.com reports.
That will likely make Hanie the No. 2 quarterback behind Peyton Manning in Denver, and if Hanie is the No. 2 it shows that the Broncos are all-in on Manning. If they weren’t totally sold on Manning being healthy, they’d sign a more experienced, proven backup. But Broncos boss John Elway is apparently sold on Hanie as the man to back up the 36-year-old starter coming off four neck procedures.
Last year Hanie struggled mightily after taking over for the injured Jay Cutler in Chicago. The Bears were poised for a playoff run before Cutler went down, but they went 0-4 with Hanie as the starter, and Hanie’s numbers were terrible: He completed 51 of 102 passes for 613 yards, with three touchdowns, nine interceptions and a passer rating of 41.8.

I'm glad he is getting a second chance somewhere. If he gets more playing time and fails again, we know last year wasn't a fluke. If he succeeds (or is even average), we know what we already know, Martz is a dbag.

Martz = Pop Warner Coach
Hanie = Pop Warner QB
Fuck em both. Once I got news of Hanie filling in for Cutler I predicted we wouldn't win a single game with him. And I was 100% correct.

Good point PB. Was the NFCC Game a fluke or was last years performance the fluke. I've already put my 2 cents worth in on that and I'll admit it if I'm proved wrong but the Hanie I saw play at CSU was a much better and more confident QB than the version that was "Martzterized" last year. He should feel more comfortable around the fan base here as well and at least this time he'll have a mentor and QB coach who should be able to help him out.
I'm getting to that age where a lifetime warranty just doesn't mean as much to me anymore as an afternoon nap.

Haine looked most comfortable when he was asked to dump it after 3 steps. The longer he was asked to hold it; and wait to get stuck by a DE the worse he looked.
I think he'll be a decent backup in a WCO; after a year or two w/an OC that actually gives 2 shakes about him.
