Lance Briggs awfully quiet?
I was curious what you guys thought. Is Briggs playing possum waiting to see how the Bears handle Forte? Unless I'm mistaken, there hasn't been a peep out of him about redoing his current deal. Does Emery have Briggs shaking in his boots or do you guys think we'll have a Briggs potential holdout issue follow this Forte fiasco? Thoughts?

I'm hoping that he finally just realized that he needs to quit his whining. Good thought, but most likely not what happened.

Urlacher has him bound and gagged in a closet somewhere.

Knowing Briggs it's just the calm before the storm or maybe the actually told him they'd get back to him after FA when they knew how they stood cap wise and maybe they'll consider swapping those salaries around. I don't know, I just get a whole different feeling about life under this new regime than the old. It just seems to me that it's more accomplishment oriented now. Decision making is done faster. It's like once the target has been acquired he already has permission to fire.

We should only be so lucky.

Briggs has a history of turning into a lil bitch when its contract time. I say if he does it this time, slap a transition tag on him, and force him to play whatever thats worth, or trade him for a couple of draft picks. He is replaceable.

I think Lovie has been checking out some prospects for that very purpose.

I think he realized that he won't get more money and no other team will give him more ...

Forte will eventually get his deal, then Briggs will bitch about how his deal needs to be done. If it does, that will lead to Urlacher wanting an extension since his deal is up after 2013

one why jinx it by bringing it up lol
two he has two years left on his deal so if he wants to play it smart he will start to bitch around when the season starts not now. If he bitches now we can draft insurance for him and he loses leverage sort of how signing Bush made Forte lose leverage. Waiting until August he kind of has us by the balls but idk if he can afford to holdout and lose money with fines the way he spends
