... It's Trench City
Lets assume Forte is back ... and we get Floyd which there's no way he could go to anybody but us.
Do you know what you have to protect right now if you are the Offensive Line?
Forte - Bush - Bell
Marshall - Floyd - Bennett
Cutler - Campbell
It's time for our Offensive Line to be addressed.
Jeff Allen ... a local player from Illinois in the third.
Notice the second round was left out ...
Whats the best player we can get in the second round at Offensive Line?

One draft rag has Zietler going at 45 while we draft at 50, so this is more then doable.

I'd be happy with either Zeitler or Konz or, even better ........... BOTH !

Would love to see both Konz and Zietler. Would be nice to see Lovie and co. keep about 9 OL on the roster for a change as they have done on the D-line. Just getting one of those guys is a win in my book and both would be crazy nice. Can't see that happening though.
Arguing on the internet is like winning the special olympics, even if you win your still messed up.

So Floyd in one, Zeitler in two, and Allen (another OG) in three huh? Which one of these guys can play DE or DT? Could we ask Floyd to gain 25lbs and rush the passer while we wait for him to beat out Bennett or Marshall?
We just spent $25 mil in 2012 cap money upgrading our offense acquiring new talent and re-signing a few of our own. Are we really gonna pay Earl Bennett $4 mil to sit on the bench behind a rookie while he learns the game? Did we extend Roberto Garza just to coach his 2012 replacement and teach him how to make the line calls? That's not the best way i know of to go about cementing Oline play.
Any Oline additions we make, save maybe one OG spot if we move CWill to OT, should be looked at more as a 2013 starter than a guy who will be of help in 2012. There's always the chance of injury but we'd be far better off with the guys we have getting at least one year of playing together under their belts than by a wholesale replacement across the line. Didn't we have these same debates last year when there were a bunch of FA's out there to be had.
Having Carimi and CWill returning is like two immediate upgrades. One the equivalent of a rookie first round pick in 2012 and the other a vet FA acquisition. They were our two best lineman last year before injuries took them. I'm not opposed to drafting an OG in round two or three because there's talent to be had and we do have three OG's playing out their contracts this year so it pays to think ahead. But spending our first three picks on offense.....no.
We can't undo the neglect of the past in just one year without ending up with exactly the same problem on the other side of the ball. The Chicago Bears teams are built around great defenses and at certain positions we are getting a little long in the tooth. We can't ignore those needs just to build layers of depth we don't need yet on the other side of the ball.

I'm getting to that age where a lifetime warranty just doesn't mean as much to me anymore as an afternoon nap.

OL/DL/DB/LB/WR are all still strong needs for this team.
Go BPA and you will get the talent/depth you need on this team in no time.

Probably won't get both WI. linemen and maybe neither but it's nice to dream of them both falling to us though. I also don't see emery going with anything on "O" in the first. I think he will draft "D" line or secondary with the first pick.
