I think I'd have to go with his first one in 2002. The only two players that made somewhat significant impacts were Alex Brown and Adrian Peterson. Brown was a solid starter, but never more than that. Peterson was a great STer and good backup RB. The rest of those picks just kind of make me shake my head. Columbo could have been good, but just couldn't shake the injuries while he was with the Bears.
If I could go back in time I would show JA the future and change his philosophy of thinking. Dividends throughout the years would be much greater and magnified.
07, Only 1 of the early picks played(Olsen), the rest were busts before they showed up in camp. Only Graham made any contributions other then him.
Yup ric coming off the SUPERBOWL loss we went for luxury picks instead of fixing obvious needs like the aging oline. Inexcusable draft not one pick was worth it except Olsen cause it helped land marshal
Yep; it was the year where in FA we went after "our own fa's" b/c we were "close". As if we were SO above every other team we could afford to stand pat while they all improved and caught up.
2 62 Dan Bazuin DE Central Michigan **Didn't play a down for us or anyone else; beyond bust that is just embarassing**
3 93 Garrett Wolfe RB Northern Illinois **GINORMOUS REACH and would have been around MUCH later, yet was more productive(not that he was) then any of the others**
3 94 Michael Okwo LB Stanford **Didn't play a down for us or anyone else; beyond bust that is just embarassing**
4 130 Josh Beekman OG Boston College **27 games, less then 2 years, then cut**
This draft was just stock full of Garbage. I'm not even counting the 7th's, who also*I don't believe* didn't play a down for us.
2010 was pretty garbage too; although no first or 2nd will do that. 2002 was pretty bad also. In this current NFL you cannot screw up even one draft; Philly/Indy/NE were a top drafting org's in the early to mid 2000's. they've all came back down to earth, Philly/Indy have fallen back down to earth; and NE has been very streaky in regards to the success they had in the early and mid 2000's. Draft=success in this league; look at GB/Det/NO/Hou/NYG, all either w/recent SB's or quickly b/c contenders.
Your front office has to be run terribly (like the early to mid 2000s Lions) to not field a good team with as many high draft picks as the Lions have had.
