If you go by most scouting reports every year on college offensive tackles, most, if not all, tackles entering the draft won't be worthy of ever playing LT. I think that's a load of bullshit. Jonathan Martin is probably already better than J'Marcus Webb, so that right there is a reason to think seriously about picking him.
WalterFootball.com predicts the Bears will pick Kendall Wright, which wouldn't hurt my feelings in the least, while Mel Kiper, Jr., is saying Whitney Mercilis. I think any of those three players mentioned in this post would be solid picks, and anyone who doubts Martin's ability to play LT is stupid because he's already a better T than Webb, which should help us right there.

Martin would be a wasted pick IMO. The Bears absolutely need help at LT, but Martin projects as more of a RT at this level. If they were set on taking an O-linemen with this pick (and I don't think they are) then Cordy Glenn is probably the better pick.
With that said there are so many other players I'd rather take at 19 over Martin, assuming they're still on the board...like Kirkpatrick, Mercilus, Wright, Brockers, Glenn, Jenkins & Perry to name a few.

That being said, Bipolar, the Bears aren't going to draft a OT in the first round. They're either going to go after another WR or a DE.

Listening to the ESPN afternoon show they had one of their "draft guru's" who said this is where he sees the Bears going also. I just don't buy it. We've gone to heavy O in FA. we need to shore up the DL and LB positions w/starters and depth.

I think Emery will seek to fix those problems with the defensive line and linebacking positions in the middle rounds of the draft since we've nearly exhausted our salary cap for the year. Getting Jonathan Martin wouldn't be bad seeing as how he's probably already a better LT than J'Marcus Webb ever dreamed of being. But I'm more inclined to believe that the Bears are going to go after a DE or a WR in the first round. I'd be very surprised we traded down or stayed put and drafted Dont'a Hightower out of Alabama to be molded by Urlacher and Briggs in the first round.
