Interesting mock draft. Shoot if DeCastro fell that far, then the Bears would be fools not to take DeCastro. He could have as profound an impact on the offense as a WR.

That was exactly my thought when I saw he was available here.

Windy situational or not he was an important part of the rotation that has been missing on this team since tank got cut. He is important and not getting him back put dt back up their as a need

He is very replaceable.
We have 3 young talented DTs on this team in Melton, Paea and Toenia, all of which I would keep over Okoye. Do we need someone yes, but give me a 4th round pick or let Izzy play inside on passing downs.

I agree with you Windy. I mean they can add DT depth later on in the draft or they can even look to add depth at the position towards the end of training camp as players get cut by other teams. Paea is going to be a stud for the Bears. He's finally healthy and he's having a whole offseason at halas Hall to benefit from. I'm very excited about his 2nd season.

I don't think losing Okoye would be detrimental to the defense but I would take him over Toeina in a heartbeat.

Toenia is our best run defender and short yardage player by a mile.

I have to agree with windy here, in that regard. I think Amobi is better at getting to the QB, but Big Toe is a much better run defender and he controls his gap much better. While I really like Amobi and his upside, he gets caught up in the wash a bit too much. I would still like to see him stay because we could do much, much worse, but we can't and shouldn't break the bank on him. If we DO get a first round bookend for JP that can bring real pressure, out DT's will fare ar better as well.

If we get a DE in the 1st/2nd round that can play that Izzy can get reps inside where he has had success in the past.

I'm probably the only one here who believes that Toeaina is replaceable. Zero sacks, zero forced fumble, just 16 tackles, doesn't sound like a good defensive lineman to me.
Sorry, but we need something better than that.
