trade him
Bye Forte
Agreed. I'd love to keep him, but it just doesn't seem to be in the cards. I don't think he'd go as far as holding out of the regular season, but by then he will have missed the whole off season and will probably blow his hammy during his first acton anyways. Get what you can for him in a trade and move on.
Draft day trade?
Realistically who would dance and whats his value im sure a first rounder is in the cards but how high?
dance partners
1. Cleveland - they have NO ONE!
2. Tampa Bay - they arent happy with Blout's fumbling issue, they want Richardson, but they have money and a nice pick i would swap 1st and have them give us their 2nd pick for forte
3. New England - much like our grandmothers, they want him for nothing, id want their early 1st pick or bust
4. Indianapolis - they are in rebuild mode, obviously were not gonna take the 1st overall pick from them, butttttt ill take their second this year and 1st next year
5. Pittsburgh - Mendenhall is probably gone next season, Mendenhall is also in a contract year. Sign forte and they dump mendenhall guilt free
DOnt ask me why but i have a strong feeling the bears and another team will make the boldest trade since the Eli/River trade
How about a ton of #2's and either cherry pick the entire second round or use them to move up in the first.
1st+ from the Pats or #22 from the Browns
draft DE and WR in the 1st
I like Forte. Up until recently, he has done his job well, without bitching or complaining. He is a work horse. He wants to win. He is a well balanced back and a good team guy. He deserves to get paid as one of the top backs in the league.
That being said, I don't think we should over pay him. I don't think he is an elite back. He is a damn good back, and does a lot of things well, but I don't think you sell the ranch to keep him. It's nothing against him, it's the nature of the position. RBs have a short life in the NFL, and though I would like to see Forte on this team, I don't want to see him on this team if it hurts the team financially.
I am all for being loyal to your players, but unless you have an elite RB, it's too much of a risk IMO, from a business standpoint.
trade him b/c he won't risk getting a career inj for a 1yr deal? the horror. How about this; Bears Org get's off the 5 year 15 mil guarantee train, and offer him a legit deal of 18mil guarantee.
