did I already mention in twenty other threads I would love to draft coples lol

Given our needs and the talent that is there, I race to the podium if he is still available at 19, but I would NOT trade up to get him. I'm not saying that all the negative hype is correct, but there is just enough doubt there for me to NOT give up another early pick to land him.
The Greatest form of revenge is MASSIVE success.
This guy is a beast. I hope we can get him. He would be a great asset for the defense.
I'm so glad I found this board. Just being among equally passionate and intelligent Bears fans on its own is really awesome. But seeing you guys echo my own sentiments that Coples would be a great pick for the Bears only further drives the point home.
I can't pretend to know whether or not Coples will be a boom or bust, but considering the many comparisons between him and Peppers, I really think that those two together would make the line absolutely ferocious. Somebody above pointed out that Peppers is his role model essentially, so I imagine that just playing on the same line with him would at least inspire Coples never to let him down. Yes Rod Marinelli would bring out his best as well (assuming he even goes to the Bears - fingers crossed), but the NFL is a whole different beast than college football. Everybody he plays against will be better than 90% of the kids lined up against him in college. So hopefully that will motivate him to step up his game as well.

Welcome to the board, synthetic67! This is an awesome place, and you'll find that most of the people here are pretty respectful toward one another. Enjoy your time on here and do what you can to entertain us with ideas and concepts, as well as reply to whatever you feel like replying to.
I think something interesting is a foot. We still don't know what Matt Forte is going to do with this new offer the Bears are putting forth, and if he refuses it, I have to say that I will be firmly for trading him for draft picks. We took care of ourselves in one light by signing Michael Bush, who has the potential to be an outstanding running back, so we would only be taking a slight step back if we were to jettison Forte. Sure, I know that Forte was a Pro Bowler this past year, but as it has been said before in these threads, no running back is irreplaceable, and that goes for Matt Forte. His attitude sucks, and he is greedy. In my opinion, to lose him would be no major thing, even though we would be deeper at the position if we manage by some miracle to re-sign him.
Now, on to talking about Coples. In terms of trading away draft picks to get him, it would have to be based on the fact that within one or two spots of the Bears, Coples is still on the board waiting to be taken. Now, if we traded Forte away for draft picks, then absolutely I go for that deal and draft Coples. We would then have the 19th overall pick and be able to go after a WR, and everyone would be happy.
