Yeah, Lovie had made these comments a couple for weeks ago right after we signed Bush. Since then we know that he's had a one on one talk with Forte and assured him that signing Bush wasn't a move to replace him as opposed to compliment him. Hopefully Forte listened and believed him and has wiped the pout off his face over it.
The key comment in this is Lovie expressing his willingness to go forward with Bush as his starter sharing carries with Kahlil Bell. He expresses confidence in Bell and hopefully Forte get that message too. The Bears are not bereft of talent at RB. I've said it before and I'll say it again, with the other offensive weapons we've added we can win with Bush and Bell as our #1 and #2 RB's. Would we be better off with Forte in the mix? Of course. Then, along with Clutts at FB, we have one of the strongest if not the strongest backfield in the NFL.
To be honest my patience with this Forte thing is running thin and the closer we get to draft day and the more I see what another first round pick could turn into as far as filling another need the more my sentiment to trade him grows. Lance Briggs, now a happy camper again, says about Forte, "he knows what he's worth". Does he? I don't think so because if he did this wouldn't be stretching out the way it has. It's stretching out because Matt Forte only thinks he knows what he's worth and from the looks of it his estimate is a bit high.
He'll never be worth more in trade than he will in just a few weeks as teams look at this years crop of backs and find there aren't any that are a match for Forte's all around talents. If they're willing to meet his price and give us the equivalent of a #20 first round pick on draft day I would even include his plane ticket to that destination as a going away gift.
Ya for Lovie it's about having as many people between himself and the hangmans gallow as possible....Turner, Grossman, Orton, Martz, Angelo....
