    Chris Williams back to LT?

That's what all signs are pointing to according to YourBoyRoy. Since Edwin Williams showed more power at LG, and this is C Will's contract year, the Bears want to see what they really have in him. One more chance to see what he has. Anyone is an upgrade from Webb IMO

Would love to see it but as adamant as Tice is on keeping his LT project in Webb there I'm kind of doubtful.

This is not a solution to our LT issue.

However Webb needs legitimate competition to push him to be more consistent.

I would love to see this. We have guard covered with E. Williams, Spencer, Louis, (draft-pick perhaps in a G rich draft). We need a swing tackle. Williams would at a minimum be a high quality swing tackle, having previously played both LT and RT reasonably well, but I suspect he beats out Webb to start (unless Webb has stepped up markedly which is possible and would be really good news).

As you say, this move does let the Bears discover if they have a LT of the future in C. Williams (although I do worry about the possibility of a recurrent back problem). In a sense it doubles the chances of their finding the critical LT in house. Williams seemed to lack the power of a true NFL OG hog, but was good in space. That seems more the description of a OT than an OG. Yes he is a fine pulling guard but an agile LT can also be pulled. I believe "li .... sox" said Williams gave up exactly 1 sack in 11 starts at LT. I think we have to forgive him one bad preseason game against the talented Mr. Wimbley, as it was his first in the Martz offense.

At worst, all of this talk about keeping Webb at LT or moving Williams there seems to be a smoke screen for possible real intentions to go after a lineman in the draft. And that's what I'm hoping for. I don't know who would be better for us, whether it's Jonathan Martin, Cordy Glenn, Mike Adams, or one of the second round guys. And I'm admittedly not a fan of Adams to begin with. But the Bears need to get somebody.

That said, let's be honest. Webb can't cut it at left tackle. And Chris Williams seems to have finally found his comfort zone at guard. But if we can't get a tackle in the draft, then maybe have those two and Carimi all compete over the left tackle position. If we get Cordy Glenn, throw him into the mix as well since he played LT at Georgia. My hope though is that Williams stays at guard since he seemed pretty decent there. What it all boils down to though is that the line needs to get better. Tice has done good with it so far when it was failing horribly, so I trust that he'll do the same again. And with Martz gone now, he'll maximize it to fit his offense.

I wanted to add something else to this, but it's slipped my mind at the moment. So maybe I'll add more later.

So, basically what you're telling me is that there's no veracity to this beyond the fact that everybody else has been speculating this the past four months? Dude's a megatard.

Chris was by far our biggest impact OL last year, and while I want him to stay at one position for more than one fucking season (especially now that his familiarity/savvy has started to gel with his talent at LG), I wouldn't mind him getting a shot back at LT. Webb is a fantastic run blocker, but the guy is so wildly inconsistent in pass pro. At this point, I'm willing to say Webb just lacks the heart needed to meet his potential after seeing him phone it in the last few games.

Oh, I forgot to mention that if the Bears are serious about winning a championship this year, then just juggling the O-Line around again without adding to it might not be the answer.

Chris Williams needs to play LT, that's why we drafted him and in my opinion, he is our best option on the current roster. He is not playing LG because he sucked at LT, he is playing LG because that was the best fit for the strengths of the other 4 guys. A little story to make my point, When I played in HS, I was the starting LT to begin my Senior year. I just barely beat out my best friend for the position, and he played next to me at LG. We were very close in terms of quality at LT, but the closer we came to the beginning of the season, the more the coaches began to realize he just wasn't getting it done at LG. In our offense, the guards would be pulling all the time and he was always missing his assignments. We also ran a lot of traps, and he was really having a difficult time of it. He was not a bad O-Lineman at all, but he was really having trouble with his movement. One practice the coach finally pulled him and switched us, and we stayed that way for the rest of the year. The point is, I see a lot of similarities. I do not believe Chris Williams is playing LG because he sucked at LT at the time of the switch, but rather that the talents of all the other guys around him were better played elsewhere. For all the crap Williams has received for not playing the LT position well when he had the chance, he still did much better than anything Webb has shown anywhere over the last two years. Furthermore, I believe Williams has become a much better pro over the last two years, and that growth could really show even more at LT. From what I have watched, I consider it an absolute no brainer and when Tice moved Webb to the Left side for last year, I actually began to question Tice as an evaluator. I say put Webb at the swing position, put Williams back over at LT, keep Garza at Center, let Spencer and Louis battle out the RG spot (I have little faith in either, but we can't fix everything all at once), and draft a real starting LG and do whatever with Edwin Williams, as he is just a roster spot IMO (Garza saved his ass more than once last year). Carimi at RT goes without saying.

I say if DeCastro is there at 19 and we select him, this alignment will change our O-Line for years to come (we still have to find a Center next year to replace Roberto in a couple). If he's not there and Zeitler get close to us in the second, then go get him (Actually at this point, I would prefer Zeitler in the second over DeCastro in the first). if you get neither, then do the best we can in the third.
The Greatest form of revenge is MASSIVE success.
