Mock Draft 4/14 [Forte Trade Rumor]

I do not think this would happen, but I thought it would be an interesting debate.

*Trade* The Chicago Bears trade 1[19] and RB Matt Forte to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers for 1[5] and 4[114].

Tampa Bay Buccaneers Possibly Looking At Matt Forte? - Tampa Bay Buccaneers : Tampa Bay Buccaneers

    1[5] OT Matt Kalil [USC] 6'7" 306lbs.

The Bears move aggressively to fill the biggest weakness on their team by moving Matt Forte. Jay Cutler cannot reach his potential with J'Marcus Webb as his LT. The Bears move a less valuable position [RB] to fill a more important position of [LT].

2[50] DE Bruce Irvin [West Virginia] 6'3" 245lbs.

The Bears need pass rush and speed on the outside and while Irvin might not be able to start at his size he can provide the pass rush. Irvin will pair with Idonije to create a complete DE at the LE position.

    3[80] RB LaMichael James [Oregon] 5'8" 200lbs.

After moving Forte the Bears may need another weapon to pair with Michael Bush in the backfield. James can be a Darren Sproles type player that can run, catch and return the ball.

    4. WR Jeff Fuller [Texas A&M] 6'3" 223lbs.

The Bears add pass catching depth and size to the WR core. Fuller has a ton of ability, but has regressed this season. If the Bears can get him back to his best they will have a steal.

    4. CB DeQuan Menzie [Alabama] 5'11" 200lbs.

More depth for the secondary with the very physical Menzie. You know with an Alabama DB that they are physical and they will hit you both good things in the Cover 2.

    5. LB Tank Carder [TCU] 6'1" 237lbs.

The Bears need to add LB depth and Carder is the type of leader that they should be developing at MLB.

    6. DT DeAngelo Tyson [Georgia] 6'2" 310lbs.

A thick and explosive player that can provide depth at NT and allow Paea to move over to DT if needed.

    7. CB/S Robert Blanton [Notre Dame] 6'1" 200lbs.

More secondary depth with a player that I think will move to FS and provide a big body that can tackle and play deep in the zone.

    Depth Chart

    QB: Cutler, Campbell, McCown
    RB: Bush, James, Bell, Clutts

Unless Minnesota gets a crazy offer for #3, then I don't think Kalil drops that far. T-Rich? Maybe.

Giving up Forte and your #19 to get a LT would be a real bad deal. The #4 pick is not worth Forte and our 1st. Kalil is not Tony Boselli or Jake Long.

OL is much more important position then RB.

This trade would make sense because not only would address our biggest weakness (OL) for some time to come (most likely), we have a replacement for Forte in Bush. Will Bush be as productive as Forte? Probably not, but id do this deal in a heartbeat.

The importance of the OL vs. RB is irrelevant. What is important is the kind of value that Forte has, given he's already an established player in the NFL. He's an All Pro runner that does it all. The Bucs can give up #4 for Forte and lesser rd pick. The Bears would hurt themselves by throwing Forte in just to move up 15 spots. Such a deal would be up there with the Thomas Jones trade, in terms of all timke Bears blunders.

How good is his value to the Bears if he holds out and doesn't play a snap for the team?

The buzz is that the Vikings are going to pass on Kalil.

I know this won't happen and I valued Forte as a mid 1st round pick.

It is fun to think about though.

I heard some things about them passing, but nothing for the past few weeks. It would be incredibly dumb for them to pass on Kalil, unless they want to trade down.

    Is this an actual rumor?

I really don't care for that trade one bit. Trading Forte for a late 1st is better value than giving up our own AND Forte for a top 5 pick. Let's say that 19th pick turns into Coples, Brockers, Perry, etc. Is one of them + Forte worth Matt Kalil & a 4th round pick?
