I dunno man. Like I've said before, I'm kinda glad I'm not the guy that makes the call. It's never, ever a good sign when a guy is obviously mailing in effort, especially in football. If your a 20 year old kid and you can't get pumped up on a major university gridiron on a Saturday afternoon, with the home crowd screaming their heads off, then what's it going to be like when you've actually got a big fat wallet.
He would be really, REALLY hard to pass up, but we've seen these guys before with all the talent in the world and they lack the passion to give it everything. If someone else is there that I really liked, I would probably go there, but that's my opinion tonight. Tomorrow I could go watch some more video on him and change my mind again. I think this is a real boom or bust guy.

You know what, I just remembered hearing on one of the podcasts I follow that North Carolina's Zack Brown (ILB) has the same issue with work ethic and motivation. They speculated on that podcast that maybe it's a culture thing at UNC, as opposed to just falling on the shoulders of their players. Because if you remember, Peppers went there too (albeit years ago) and supposedly had similar issues. At least that's what we heard when the Bears got him. And he's proven the naysayers wrong. So if it is a culture issue at UNC, maybe those guys will move past it like Peppers did coming into the pros. My fingers are crossed.

Coples + Zeitler would be a stellar 1-2 start to the draft. Love to see that!

I find it hard to believe that with the season Coples had that there is no good tape on him. Sure, he didn't dominate the competition like most expected, but his talent is undeniable.
If he's there at 19 then chances are he's the best value on the board, so you take him and don't think twice.

Coples is simply too talented to pass up. The guy could come in and immediately give us 10-12 sacks along with however many Peppers will get as a result of his assistance. As far as any issues with attitude or effort, I'll leave that to Mr. Urlacher and Mr. Peppers to properly handle him as he comes into the Bears lineup (provided we get him). Lovie, let's not forget, managed to call out Henry Melton during the course of the year publicly and he responded with a terrific season during the last 8-10 games - I think he had 7 sacks? So, I am not worried there. We can handle him. This is a tight-knit team that plays off each other well and get along in near perfect harmony.

We saw a guy in camp just this last year that everyone fawned over out of Ohio State, but there were questions about his motor and his desire to play. Sorry guys, I can't get Vernon Gholston's name out of my mind when I think of Coples.
Someone please help me get his name out of my head when I see a picture of Coples.

you know when someone said Coples can't miss, that is the VERY SAME person that came to my mind. We are thinking the same, and that should scare you.

To me this comes down to passion vs promise. If I had more faith that Rod could develop/motivate more I would pop for Coples. For DE he is second to me behind Perry. I'm just tired of seeing the Gholstons and pool jumpers flame out. I want consistent effort/impact for a 1st round pick.
