There are some pretty brutal comments on this guy:
You really learn to appreciate how important the “team” aspect of football is because when Rachal is in the game everything just falls apart. It’s amazing how bad things can go when just one guy can’t do their job at anything close to a satisfactory level. That old saying about needing all 11 guys on the same page to have a good play is absolutely true and Rachal is rarely on the same page.
and
Now I really feel bad for Cutler. Chilo is a turnstile in the passing game.
and
worst ‘professional’ lineman I’ve ever seen.
and
Thank god he is gone; he was awful! He might win the job in summer, but by week 3 he will be on the bench. He can’t pass block to save his life!
We may have found that elusive needle in a haystack - a professional OL that is worse than Omiyale

Why Phil, why? This signing makes no sense!

Emery and Tice must see something in this guy they like. One man's trash is another man's treasure. I don't pay that much attention to what the fans from other teams say about players who depart. That would be like the Seattle guys coming over here to read about OMG.
Coming out of college he was rated pretty high but his rap is that he's always been a marginal pass blocker which is why he didn't go in round one like DeCastro will but in 2008 he was a top ranked Oline prospect. Look, the guy is 26 and we signed him to a one year deal cheap so if he can't compete we're out nothing but if the guy just needed better coaching of wasn't a fit in SF then maybe we got some depth. Frankly I didn't see the need for another vet OG but there must have been a reason we spent the $$$.
Look for CWill to be moved back to LT this summer for a shot at unseating Webb. There has to be a Plan B going on in the Bears minds. We need someone else competing with Webb and there's nothing out there we liked at LT better than we like CWill or Webb.....or Carimi. That seems kind of obvious right now.
I'm getting to that age where a lifetime warranty just doesn't mean as much to me anymore as an afternoon nap.

If this is some sort of pretext to not draft a OL in the higher rounds I will have lost any confidence I have in Tice. If it's just a flyer I'm ok w/it. The dude sounds like Omiyale 2.0
Arguing on the internet is like winning the special olympics, even if you win your still messed up.

Hate to tell you, but they are going defense in round one. This will be a defensive heavy draft.

I pretty much expect that in the first but if round 2 and 3 don't see any OL help good luck then.

Wow, when I first saw this thread, I honestly thought "Alright, I thought he had already re-signed, and this is a great find". Mostly because I remember when he came out of USC thinking the Bears should grab him (thats how long we've needed real O-Line help). Lets say he was that years version of someone like Brandon Brooks.
However, it's not like I followed his career and I am a bit surprised at all the bad comments about him. I must say that I'm sure the Niners fans know what they have ridden themselves of more than what we think we have gained.
Oh well, it's worth a shot. Tice is to O-Linemen what Marinelli is to D-Linemen, just look how he's done with all of our top notch guys.
The Greatest form of revenge is MASSIVE success.

Well, he supposedly has a pretty good mean streak. That's always worth something to me. I'm not too upset about it as this point -- as long as they don't insist on playing him if he's not any good like they did with Omiyale. If so, we will be getting a chance to see all three QBs this year.
