Watching the offseason moves, most have been done to strengthen the offense. You may see an offensive player picked on R2 or 3, but likely not both

No, I'd just be content with a OL in either round 2 or 3. Getting a guy like Zeitler in round 2 would be nice though.
Arguing on the internet is like winning the special olympics, even if you win your still messed up.

There better be some other reason for picking this guy up because he isn't very good. If he's on the field we'd better be running the ball. He can't stop a pass rush. I only hope there is a reason why we signed a veteran bench warmer.

I don't really know why you guys are so upset over a guy who gets signed cheap for a one year trial as a backup in all likelihood IF he even makes the team. The same thing happened last years when we signed Spencer after Olin left.
Everyone including the Seattle fans talked about how he was such a huge disappointment there that he ended up being replaced yet he came here, moved over from OC to RG and did a decent job as a sub for Louis when we needed to kick him out to RT to replace Carimi. So now comes Rachal having had a similar experience in SF and once again the moans begin before the guy plays one down of football in Chicago.
Spencer was a former 1st round pick as an OC! How often does that happen? Rachal was a high second round pick OG from a good program. Somewhere along the line somebody must have seen something in these two guys for them to be picked that high. Let's at least give the guy a chance before we trash the move.
Tice has made chicken dinners out of chicken shit with these lineman for two years. We got to the NFCC game in 2010 with that line and OMG starting at LT. We were headed in that direction again last year when we lost Cutler and that line was missing two of it's starters and had three guys playing different positions for the first time in their careers. Considering that I think Tice has done a pretty fair job and I'd bet quite a few teams would love to have him. They've tried.
Guys, either we trust Emery and Tice's judgement on these guys or we don't. You can't compliment the man for yesterdays shrewd acquisitions and crucify him for this one. Either he knows what he's doing or he doesn't and so far it looks like he does. Keep in mind that both Atlanta and KC, where he's been previously, have a reputation for having good Olines. Hell, we wanted to sign FA's from Atlanta last summer and if Emery would have been here then Brian Waters would likely have been playing here rather than in New England.
You have to admit that picking up a guy like Rachal is little different than signing an UDFA or a guy from someone's PS. Only this guy actually got drafted so at one point in time he showed some skill. I just wished the hell he could have found some OT's like this. We've got OG's up the kazoo right now and we're short staffed on the edge.

I am not upset. The more players that are in competition the better. Our line needs to be better. Sign 50 washouts from other teams if need be.

That was last years plan.

But we still got one out of the bunch who paid off. Too bad we couldn't afford to keep him.

He's good at straight ahead blocking and has a mean streak, is what has been said about him . Good, maybe a goal line OG, EXTRA lineman on goalline. But like someone said, if he sucks please dont play him. Guess we'll see in training camp.

I think it's wise to gather some low risk insurance with unsigned vets like this. It costs us little and he can always be cut in PS if someone else beats him out for a roster spot. I sure hope that "looking at OGs" means that CWill is going to be given a legit shot at LT in PS. We all know Webb needs, at minimum, to win or lose the job facing some legit competition and CWill is the logical choice there since it doesn't look like there's any plausible rookie LTs available to us in the upper draft. CW is entering his last year prior to FA and he stands to earn himself a much better contract for 2013 if he shows he can play LT in addition to LG. In other words, he really ought to be MOTIVATED to succeed if given a shot IMO. Would LMAO with excitement if CW beat out JW for the starting job which is what he was drafted to play in the first place.
We also might be able to draft Zeitler or even Konz in the 2nd (love to see that) or maybe Brewster or Molk or Jones as another OC in the 3rd-4th. It would be a wise idea to start thinking about our future C post-Garza and start grooming one. With Konz and Zeitler, you get a guy who should start from year 1 at either G or C.
OL hopeful plan
LT: CWilliams
LG: Zeitler/Konz
C: Garza
RG: Louis
RT: Carimi
Backup OT: Webb, Louis
Backup OGs: Spencer, EWilliams, Rachal?
Backup Cs: Spencer, Zeitler/Konz
